We know this things. I will tell you what the issue is. Managers strategically groom people they want to grow. You are overlooked. I received almost in every performance positive metrics. I do above and beyond in all I do. But apparently, I keep on failing interviews. I am about to graduate with my BA in HR which I do online paid by my job. Mentorship is giving to those they want to grow. Worse is I don't think some have even degrees.
ОтветитьThis is a beautifully articulated video of what literally happens in the real world. So much value here! 👏🏻
ОтветитьLove this! Thank you for providing this advice! Practical, easy to understand and also applicable.
ОтветитьGreat video though, absolutely loved the pointers. 👍🏼
ОтветитьWhat would your advice be for someone who is in supporting function say legal in a large multinational. Which is Not based on sale numbers or clients brought in.
ОтветитьReally useful advice. Thanks for sharing❤
ОтветитьSo far, the people that I’ve seen that mostly care about their promotion are the worst people to work with. They are takers and very hard to get real and deep support from.
ОтветитьHi Jeff, your video is gold. Thank you.
ОтветитьSo, I'm in a situation, I basically work for a staffing company "B" placed "permanently" with the company "A" I want to work for. Literally everyone in company "A" knows I would love to work for them. I volunteer for just about every project no one wants, create solutions to problems no one wants to address and have saved company "A" more money than I get paid. I get recognized regularly with both handshakes and small monetary tokens both I am grateful for. I'm trudging on but loosing hope 😢 I haven't seen a raise in 2 years. I could leave for more money but I love my job, the place, and the people I work with. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
ОтветитьI could have gotten promoted in retail but I didnt want to. 😂
ОтветитьThis may be true in some cases where a company acts fairly, but most companies don't. Its not what you know and what you do, but who you know and how you kiss a**.
ОтветитьHi jeff! Big fan here I watched all your videos on productivity and interviews and now this that comes handy for the future. I recently got a job at GSK and that would be my first big corporate experience.
I wanted to know if you have any advice when it comes to a small group when you are at the bottom. How do I make my boss contract someone else to do my job so that I could focus on more important things (and get a promotion in terms of money ofc)?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Easiest way is to just get along with your manager/s. If you don't, forget about it.
ОтветитьHi! Jeff, this video is very very helpful to me and others. I must do the things you suggested. Super thanks!
ОтветитьYour advice makes me want to quit my corporate job as you are reinforcing all the wasted time/energy spent on useless tasks playing the rat race game.
ОтветитьSuch great content! Thanks Jeff!
ОтветитьHis boss watching this: 👁👄👁
Ответитьlove from xiaohongshu
ОтветитьI love the advice on being seen but in 6yrs i've been promoted 7 times. I disagree with your timelines. 4 promotions over 8yrs is pretty slow....Best way to get promoted is to acknowledge when a correction to your role is required or they are screwed. promotions are always negotiations so do it when you have leverage. The timing of this is reflective of how they use you as a resource over time or when there are gaps that you can fill....It is that simple. Also....CHANGE JOBS!
ОтветитьJeff, Buddy which software you used for these video edit. i really would love to learn it. do you advise ?

ОтветитьKeeping scores is essential and easy to do! After I am aware of what the annual review system looks like, I will keep a document of what I would achieve once we set the OKR. Usually there's not enough time for us to fill in the 360 reviews, and keeping scores saves me tons of time! Oh Happy 2023 Jeff
ОтветитьHii jeff.. m ur big fan from India.
Please make video on how to email when u apply for job.
Omgg you are gonna hit 400k subs soon, and congrats on the promotion! 🎉
This video is seriously so informative and it answers basically 99% of questions I have for Corporate World 101, thank you!!
Thanks Jeff ! This is golden advice !
Very few people are lucky to learn this early in their careers through a proactive approach and with an immense drive for career progression.
Whenever I see a new upload I often think to my self - I wish someone would have told me this when I started out.
And here you are sharing your experiences, for so many people to benefit from.
Congratulations on your promotion and hope to see a "Get Promoted at Work 2.0" after the next one, very very soon ! Cheers ! :)
Hey i remember seeing advice from your previous videos about asking for recommendation and even providing a sample letter to make it easy for them. Along with asking for linkedin endorsment. But i didnt manage to find them, do you still have these videos online?
ОтветитьHey Jeff , kindly post videos for freshers separately. I'm a fresh graduate and I'm unable to relate to most of the content as I don't have much experience.
See you with new content.
Congrats on your promotion, Jeff! The way you approach your manager on promotions is so well worded, I'll definitely be referencing that when my time comes :P
Your last tip resonated with me quite a bit. As I get more exposure into Corporate America, I've come to realize that no matter how sexy an industry or job title may sound, there's always some unsexy work involved. But that work may just be what helps you build your skill set xD
Damn, could’ve got this template/advice sooner!
Ответить+1 on the most numbing aspect of a marketer, except now I have more of it as a BD.
Ответитьthank you for the tips :)
ОтветитьAll what we hear in the video requires a management which has this knowledge. I don't think it's very common even in bigger companies to has this kind of view.
ОтветитьAh, if I only cared about being promoted. I usually find that I am just there for the job and to do what I can, and then move on when it is time. I am really more one-on-one and advocate for the little person in the office, which generally doesn't cater well to moving up the ladder. I usually have the pattened footstool that I carry around with me as a reminder to not seek promotions. However, this advice is great for people who do and it also showed me why my boss struggled so hard before they let her go.
ОтветитьYour videos always stand out ✨
Thank you 🙏🏼
Lot to take in this video, but seems useful.
ОтветитьSaw the last point on your LinkedIn a few days ago, and the rest of the advice is just as awesome!!
ОтветитьGreat video Jeff, I thought it would be longer than 6 minutes, but you covered a lot of info in a great way in that timeframe.
Me 1 piece of advice for getting promoted is: Ask for it! (just like you said)
In some weird universe, the worst coworker could actually get promoted simply by being the only one who asked for it.
What timing! Big thankyou . You are the angel i needed today. I had my job raise negotiation meeting today and i prepared a powerpoint and all that. This video gave me a boost in confidence and I was able to present it better and tweak my talking points with all additional tips in the video..
The boss matched my desired pay and said he was really impressed with the approach. I am ecstatic
Thanks for the tips!
ОтветитьLOL. my mom definitely counting the promotion....
ОтветитьWanted to say grats Jeffy🎉 you deserve it. Keep “em whipped and doing your 80% bidding ayyyyy lol jk hope they don’t watch this
ОтветитьI work on cybersecurity industry. I simply need to work for a new company every year and get a big salary raise/better position with so many job opportunities.
ОтветитьIt's really helpful. Thank you.😊
ОтветитьBut on some thought, the founders never had to dance through all these things. They just had to come up with a great idea and execute.
I guess is that what you have to do in a large organization.
Feels like this can also be a full time job…
ОтветитьAnother great video mate. I never thought we could be "late" to ask for a promotion. Btw the videos are getting better and better, I bet that in 2023 you will reach 1M subscribers.
ОтветитьHello Jeff !
What about would you give to a guy who's going from a non technical background ( mining engineer) to doing a Project management course of 18 months. Mainly in looking for a white collar job , but is it possible to get it?
Some excellent advice for low-mid level employees looking to get that next boost up
