Martin is an incredible actor and a very captivating homo sapien.
ОтветитьMartin Sheen had a Leo Dicaprio moment with his hand
He kept shooting the scene just like Leo in Django Unchained during the dinner scene
This is the closest film has ever come to capturing the “shadow”.
ОтветитьCongratulations 💍 Dadddy
ОтветитьThe first scene fades in on a line of palm trees, the faint pluckings of the sitar or guitar of The Doors' 'The End,' the napalm. For several moments there, I felt like I had been dropped down into a Vietnamese jungle during the war, in December of '79 (its release). You just feel emersed in it. Then you see a ceiling fan, and Sheen's face looking up at it, and you soon realize you are in a hotel room in Saigon. So this was one of the travesty years of the Academy Awards in my opinion. Its no wonder that actors like Brando and George C. Scott don't like them and such. Apocalypse Now basically got snubbed in terms of what it won. I thought it should have won best picture (All That Jazz comes in second for me) and that Sheen should have at least been nominated -- perhaps winning it. I would have to go back and look at his and Roy Scheider's (All That Jazz) full performances. I liked Kramer vs. Kramer and I like Dustin Hoffman, but I did not think that they out performed these.
ОтветитьI’m glad Martin Sheen was in this movie it quite frankly made this movie just his performance even the voice over jack nicholsan al Pacino and Harvey keitel were supposed to play captain Willard and in my honest option i think jack Nicholson and al are two great actors (I dislike kietel) but it just would not have fit properly martin sheen remains one of the best actors in media solely for that movie apocolypse now is a masterpiece and it wouldn’t of been possible without Sheen
ОтветитьFor me this was real at time it could of been me .Troy from Sydney Australia
ОтветитьAfter watching the Apocalypse Now Redux version, there's no going back to the original release. There's not enough meat in the first edition, the Redux offers so much more ''protein.''
ОтветитьThat movie was perfection I can’t see anyone playing that role other than Martin sheen it’s his eyes and voice and Francis knew that and that’s why Harvey Keitel was fired
ОтветитьShould have won the Oscar
ОтветитьInteresting that he mentions Julian Beck who played Kane the old man in Poltergeist 2! Nice tribute.
ОтветитьFrancis ford took a lot of risks without the fear of failing. He took a chance with Al Pacino’s casting in Godfather despite the resistance from the producers and he took a chance with Martin Sheen in apocalypse now.
And the results speak for themselves!
Martin Sheen didn't even get nominated for the Oscar for his work. One of the greatest injustices in the history of cinema.
ОтветитьNobody that’s worked for Nike should be self righteous about anything I’m an alcoholic you know
ОтветитьMartin Sheen should have got that Oscar it's a disgrace
ОтветитьBack when people had real conversations on TV.
ОтветитьHey, it's that little American-hating, commie loving actor...what's his name?
ОтветитьLove the accidental inclusion of the Mars Blackmon Little Richard ad
ОтветитьEveryone talks about Leonardo DiCaprio in Django... but this is unmatched
ОтветитьI appreciate the opportunity to watch the interview, I appreciate the movie and the vision that we exist in two worlds, an inner world within ourselves and the world we watch, along with a acid trip I was able to look at myself from an outside perspective...
ОтветитьPerhaps my favorite male film character of all time .
ОтветитьThe Saigon hotel room scene is one of the most realistic war movie scenes in cinematic history.
ОтветитьI met Martin Sheen on the set of a movie.
ОтветитьYou should have terminated Coppola's command, with extreme prejudice.
ОтветитьWow. Thank you.
ОтветитьThe whole movie is amazing but I always thought Martin was perfect in that movie
ОтветитьGreat actor, great character..came over to Ireland at one point and went to college and was a regular student for a year or two with all the other kids and fitted in amazingly
ОтветитьOmg!! Martin Sheen is amazing!
Ответитьwhy did he say he was too old for that part?
ОтветитьAnyone know what year this interview took place.
ОтветитьBut the other
Ответитьnow I see full circle all these years later where Charlie Sheen got his insanity from… I thought Martin Sheen was altogether but clearly he had real demons and clearly no clue about his life his sense of being this interview proves it… I know as he got older he seemed to be more together but holy moly talk about what acting for a career can do to you. Charlie Sheen went insane and his father when he was young doesn't seem much better. I would never want to be an actor
ОтветитьI hope you turn to Jesus Christ Martin, your a great guy and a great actor.
ОтветитьOnly on the hotel room scene that performance should have won him an Oscar...
ОтветитьIn this interview Martin Sheen mentions that he was too old for the role of Williard. It's amazing to me that as closely as I've watched this movie I never noticed that he was too old for the character. His role was so iconic I completely missed that fact.
ОтветитьExcellent performance from Sheen.
ОтветитьI wish interviews went into this much depth and authenticity nowadays. It seems that every interview today is full of cheap comedy that just isn't anywhere near engaging as this was.
Ответить36 is indeed too old to faithfully portray a teenager, yet Michael Sheen somehow managed to pull it off
ОтветитьThis is not how you get out demons.
ОтветитьIt's crazy that both Martin and Charlie Sheen both who had their first big leading roles in Vietnam movies, 2 of the best Vietnam movies ever made.
ОтветитьI’m glad he mentioned Malick, Badlands is one of his best performances imo
Ответитьhey it's. the guy who gave women AIDS, and later told them to be thankful for admitting it
ОтветитьWhat a Great Movie and IMO, the Best Motion Picture in the History of the World.
ОтветитьMartin Sheen was magnificent and playing the role of Captain Willard but I read somewhere that the role was first offered to Steve McQueen it would have been very interesting to see McQueen and Brando on the silver screen together
ОтветитьIt's funny, Martin never alluded to, and no one here commented that his character breakdown might be PTSD related. Perhaps it was not a recognized illness at the time. They may have still referred to it as "shell shock"...
ОтветитьHe deserve an Oscar just for motel freakout scene (and heart attack).
ОтветитьApocalypse Now echoes the way Thucydides in The Peloponnesian War makes Pericles sound like Hitler (“It is because your resolution is weak that my policy appears to be mistaken”). In one of the Rambo films, of all things, Richard Crenna tells it like it is to a Russian in Afghanistan. "It’s like us in Vietnam. You shouldn’t be here." In other words, get out.
