1) Traditional Compression (to compress or reduce the difference between the loud parts and the quiet parts also known as the dynamic range )

2) Parallel Compression or New York Compression (to bring up the level of the quiet sounds)

3) Automation (fader riding to lower the volume of the loud peaks)
