I have now passed the C1 exam in German. Only when I learned to say the simpler standard phrases regularly. Although I have already read a lot of books in German and heard a lot. Thanks for the good ideas, how I now repeat English for work. Without all this complicated idioms...Main key- fluently.

I'm from Russia and here we have a big number of people who have those online and offline courses teaching you "advanced English". The main point of them is to make a learner use idioms, phrasal verbs and rare vocabulary as much as you can. Nobody really cares that people in real life don't talk like that. The goal is to just sound advanced and (as fast as I see it) less understood by those who haven't joined the courses. It's a pity most people don't realise the pointlessness of it.

У дяди такое шикарное произношение, прямо как меня в школе учили 😊 Я даже не помню, от кого и когда я раньше слышал такое чистое и однозначное "кан'т" вместо какой-то каши типа "кэн'т", как это произносят в большинстве случаев 👍

I have often seen comments suggesting that Native English is above Advanced English, to which I can only reply: No necessarily!
"Native" just means that it is your first tongue, and has nothing to do with skill level.
I, as a Dane, have been in conversations with native English speakers, using words that I felt should be commonly known, just to met with a "That's not English!". And then later in the conversations they used words to which I could say "That's not English!".
I have also met non-native Danish speakers who knew Danish words, within all levels, that I didn't know.

You also mentioned legalese, which can be grouped with any word that is only used within certain professions. I would personally call this group of words Professional English.

I second that you shouldn't used Advanced or Professional words unless you are at least fairly sure that the other part is on the same level.

Advanced isn't coz of you are using those words or phrases extensively. It's advanced due to your ablity to use it in time.

I usually type my sentence a bit slower so that you can understand what I am writing :)
What you are suggesting is not to indulge in self gratification when constructing one's considered opinion :)
The best approach is to choose the words according to the level of your recipient. From time to time I have to speak to professors, judges or other professional. I usually find that I have to raise my level up a bit to maintain a level field.

Teachers should emphasize the importance of mastering both the controlled and spontaneous aspects of English. By incorporating authentic materials, such as recordings of genuine conversations, learners can familiarize themselves with the varied accents, idioms, and regional variations present in English speaking communities.
When people listen to a speaker such as the one on the video who enunciates clearly and speaks at a moderate pace, they may gain a false sense of mastery over the language.

you should not use advanced words for the sake of sounding anvanced. You should use them in the cases where you need a more nuanced word that describes the context better than the more common and general synonyms do.

Word ☝🥸

It's interesting that you use common words in your speech, and I get all you're telling, although I realize that you're a native speaker.
Earlier I thought that If I have a not so big vocabulary, it seems bad for me, cause I want to be a native or anyone else like a native.

Today I comprehend that do not showing off to speak, just say easily. Nobody cares about your level and whatever it is.
This thoughts helped me to start speak english сonfident.

Plain language = plain thought. Adapting to the social situation one finds themselves in is what people usually do; discarding range of vocabulary for utilitarian purposes is just simplistic and unsubstantiated.

While i agree that advanced vocabulary or use of language isn't necessary for everyday conversation, there are many benefits of being able to comprehend or being able to make use of advanced English or every other language. In my opinion language is so much more than just a transmitter of information. If one is able to use rather complex vocabulary, one is most likely able to adjust their speech to make it easier to undesrstand for others. On top of that, language shapes the way we think and perceive the world, it broadens our own cosmos. I believe getting better at speaking any language has mostly benefits. I find some of the points presented in this video rather exaggerated, especially the idea that most people just want to get a good score in a language exam because of their ego.
