I am living in Northern Cape south africa. Our weather is very much the same as yours. We grow grapes for raisins and is very high in iron. Very easy to dry them in the hot climate. Maybe you can look into that

Hi Carrisa!❤ Just pausing at the giant sunflowers, for a fyi, everywhere you grow sunflowers, it does something to the soil where you can't plant anything in the land where they root, kind of like the black walnut affect. Or any walnut. Might be helpful to boldly mark where ssunflowers grow, and only plant sunflowers there.

Hi Iwan Pausing at the grape vines! Three years in you want to fertize with your chicken manure, or you may have overfertized if that is what you were doing? Not sure? Composting a material to retain water is best in spring, becareful what you use as compost, because excess fert can harm plants. Just an abservance.

I dont think you are the only ones with grape problems this year. Portugal from Scratch was commenting that there may not be anu wine making this year as hers and others looked poor. I guess some years are good and others not so much 😢 looks like an abundance of corn though, maybe whisky is on the cards 😉

So sorry to hear about your Grandma, I can tell from your voice it was a sad loss for you. Nice that you share happy memories of her in the garden since that is where you spend most of your time. Maybe plant a favourite of hers in yours.
I have a stray black cat that walked into my life starving and days from death 14 months ago, she is thriving now but a new big male cat has moved in 2 doors down (Victorian terrace type house) and he has been bullying her terribly and coming in and eating all the food. My neighbour who feeds my cat when I am gone apologised but he has eaten 3 weeks of food in 5 days. He has also been in the house I fear bullying my cat as she is spooked beyond all belief and has several bites I think as she has scabs 😢. Not sure what to do but yours sounds like it has a resolution in the future. Any tips welcome. Sadly she seems too dumb 😂 to work out the cat flap so it is slightly propped open so she can gat in and out so a collar activated one isn’t the immediate option.

Just so you are both not wracking your brains about the grapes, our harvest was looking amazing and has also now failed, spoke to our neighbour yesterday and he says it’s a 4 year cycle and everyone is in the same boat this year in our area 😢👎🏼☹️
