ОтветитьIts a shame billy got killed off, also i dont get why they couldn't of just made him a scottish immigrant instead of an irish one.
ОтветитьThis was such an important scene as it demonstrated the peasants being armed for the first time in Japanese history, and figthing against the warrior class. The samurai were revered and feared for centuries by the peasants and now they were entrusted by industrialists to end their way of life.
Ответитьeven if hte soldiers didn't panic fire and mess up their line and waited until the samurai were in range with full volley fire it wouldn't have saved their battle.
their reload was too slow. they didn't have the aggression.
i'd wager 18th century redcoat british soldiers would've fared better but they would've lost too in this kind of engagement. infantry is at a disadvantage against cavlary... especially since infantry in this battle had no artillery support.
Western yet East-obsessed weebs: Katana can cut anything!
Realistic US Army Cavalry Saber: No
I honestly don't care if this movie is innacurate, it is an honest, heartfelt love letter to japanese culture and history, the bakumatsu period is fascinating. So many changes happening brutally fast.
ОтветитьIf only ninjas were still alive they would have jumped from the trees and ambush the army
ОтветитьThere's an underlying cultural element to the conscripts' fear the movie doesn't bring up. Within their lifetime, ordinary peasants were forbidden to so much as touch a weapon under pain of death. They grew up knowing they could have been killed just for not bowing their heads low enough to the warrior caste. Algren only taught them how to fire a musket. A lifetime and culture of deference isn't so easily forgotten. Many of them would have believed this was their punishment for being corrupted. Later in the movie their fear has turned into contempt when they bully and disgrace Nobutada.
ОтветитьWhen your Ashigaru flee the battlefield at first contact Breaks keyboard
ОтветитьTom Cruise is the hero in this scene. A formidable fighter 👍
ОтветитьRIP Sgt. Gant
ОтветитьSo, about that "superior firepower and larger force"...
Ответитьdon't fuck with the samurai's unless you have howitzers
ОтветитьThey just dont make movies like this anymore
Ответитьbetter quality but so lame it ended there tch.
ОтветитьThe old Irishman and Olgran were ready and willing to die.
Ответить着剣!!😡🫡
Ответитьwhos here after Billy Connolly just died
ОтветитьChills... f*ckin chills 🤌🏻
ОтветитьImagine getting routed, running into the fog into enemy infantry...
ОтветитьLove Hans Zimmer's score here. Works so well with the scene. A Way of Life one of my favorites of Zimmers'.
Ответитьunderrated scene
ОтветитьWhen you forget to use square formation in Total War
ОтветитьWhen you only have Levy Infantry in the area so you gotta go and fight the rebels. If you know you know
ОтветитьThe White Tiger banner represents the Byakkotai, a bunch of badass teenage samurai who showed even the old timers the true meaning for Bushido, Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini even gave the Japanese monuments to commemorate the Byakkotai. Mussolini admired them so much he had a pillar from Pompeii erected in Japan on the hill they died in their honour. The Swastika on the Nazi monument has since been replaced.
Ответитьyou ever wonder why traditional riflemen never just keep the rifle loaded? Was it a humidity issue? It seems the gunpowder would always be able to ignite within the closed chamber of the barrel. I don't know. I'm really high
Ответить📸🎥
ОтветитьThe music 💙
ОтветитьThis is truly a masterpiece
ОтветитьSo much underrated acting in this movie, especially from the extras that didn't speak english. It is the director's job to bring out the best of each actor and actress and they did a very well done job in this movie.
Ответить"Damn, little sissy cowards! Your men are fleeing thr battle, sir!"
ОтветитьForm the square!
Ответитьthe shouts 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶😵😵😵😵😵😵💫😵💫👹👺😱😱😱😱😱😱

ОтветитьCapt. Algen is a cavalryman.
Not an infantryman.
He can't command the infantry in the battlefield.
After the Samurai's battle cry Captain Algren should have said some words of encouragement I. e. steady boys do not fear, there just trying to scare you or show no fear this would make sure the soldiers wouldn't fire too early thus saving the majority of the men even if only for some time.
ОтветитьThe fact that they showed Algren already posessing western sword skills makes his transition to katana somewhat believable
ОтветитьThat Sgt is the type you want next to you in war.
ОтветитьPeople glorify and glamorize war when in reality it is ugly and heinous.
ОтветитьPaper armour?!
Thats not actually happens
Algren was right... They weren't ready.
ОтветитьEven a levy infantry can easily destroy this yari cavalry. I prefer line infantry though.
Ответить"Sargeant, did you hear my order?"
"I did indeed, sir."
"Then you will obey it! NOW!!"
"No disrespect intended, sir, but shove it up your arse."
