Unless he actually believed that it sounded credible that he dissociated on and off , on and off, remembers giving a tattoo, doesn't remember talking to the police, remembers dinner, doesn't remember stabbing her. He is not pulling this off AT ALL. This repeated "I saw the video but I don't remember" is exhausting.
