The Bootstrap Paradox

I have seen at least two movies where a character is his own grandfather,or his own parents cough cough **Predestination**. I still can’t wrap my head around that concept. In one story,someone managed to break the loop,basically make a guy not time travel in the first place. And they’re transported into a parallel timeline where the guy doesn’t exist.

I cant believe I am watching a 6 year old video about bootstrap paradox's after the new pokemon games introducing one in the games story

a. this paradox cannot begin
b. there is no paradox because before and after the paradox exists the matter isn't there , the matter is stuck in the loop and cannot effect anything outside of the loop till it leaves the loop ceasing the paradox, information gained from the loop is just as good as any other myth as it is not verifiable.

Isn’t the bootstrap paradox technically the main factor behind the plot of the movie Interstellar?

Since everything in the universe is in the past we can only travel in the past but never in the future.
We know our Sun as it was 8 minutes ago (that is the past ),but we call it the present and assume that it will be there in 8 minutes time (the future) but,for all we actually know we might be tried in "our future" by a solar flare !
Is there anything in the immediate present or future ? As soon as you utter something,it has become the past.
The whole Universe is the past and so are we !

actually if you try to give yourself the discovery of time travel, the book and yourself will cease to exist since the book will be modified, fucked with and improved overtime that it will be dust by the time he discovers time travel for the last time and Poof. Back to square one.

Just because we allow things like "CLOCK" doesn't mean there is some "LINEAR FLOW" of time that can be sped up, or reversed.

The "FUTURE, PRESENT, PAS, are all (1), you can name it if you wish, but it no more exists than the "PAST" itself...

The things we do are just that.. Nothing more.. We cannot revisit them as there is no "CONSTRAINTS" that allowed them to begin with.

well clearly it's not a perfect loop. the book would age and degrade over time, meaning unless at some stage through the loop you make another copy, it'll simply break over time. it's not cyclical time, it's dimensional time, where you're traveling backwards in time into another dimension to do something

i don't think this is THAT difficult to understand if you think of time NOT as a single linear entity but a woven web which is a subset of infinite parallel realities. the book comes first or the time machine? in the timeline assumed in the video, the causal event, your origin point is always the book arriving at your door. you building the time machine to go back in time to give yourself a book needn't create a time loop instead an alternate reality in which the origin point is travelling back in time. when you come back to your real, present time, you wouldn't have changed anything in your current timeline. changing the past wont affect the present or the future and instead create alternate timelines with the altered events of past as the new source

same logic can be applied to the grandfather paradox. you travel back in time to kill your grandfathern doesnt mean you'll sieze to exist when you return to your time. it simply means you'll create a timeline in which you're never born.

this isn't really a paradox. The book cant write itself. at some point in time someone wrote it. in that universe they decided to pass the book down. leaving every other universe trapped in the loop. the item itself originates from the universe it was written in. but every other universe gets trapped in this paradox if they didn't write the knowledge but just recieved it

The biggest problem with time travel to the past to any considerable degree, is that you won't be anywhere near the surface you started from. In that time frame of say 10 years, the solar system would not be anywhere near your starting point in space. So, you would need to conquer that problem as well.

The book was written by a future you. By sending it back in time; your event is moving forward into the further future.

Your past self then creates the time machine slightly earlier. Your future self leaves the book behind for your past self to find.

Your past self then returns it to your future self. Your future self does what they want with the book.

Time travel to the (past) has a LOT of unknowns. I didn't say IMPOSSIBILITIES. Take a moment and consider this recent effect of the (Mandela Effect), so people have called it. I think those things can only be caused by "twisting" the way things happened in the past. So there is that.
BUT, a lot of people will say even time travel to the future is not possible. Bullshit. I do it everyday. I travel one day into the future. NOW, can I go TWO days instead of one? Probably. When you do stuff like that your biggest problem shifts from (how do I do this)? Into (where do I get the energy this machine is going to take)? Now, if you believe what Tesla said. About pulling energy from the "either". That "energy" issue is null. Cool. It will happen, when, the existence of said, "energy" supply, is made available to the engineering community. The Dejavu effect is an example of time travel, at the moment an event occurs that knowledge is sent back in time and received in a dream, which is then stored in your memory, when in the future the event happens a memory of it is replayed and we can predict how the rest of the event will turn out, the flow of time in electrical energy travels backwards, objects can not travel back because they need to have a origin, energy is sent back in the form of information because it can easily be stored in our memories

at some point the book appears not from you, but your action of giving yourself the book causes the causality loop and traps you

What if it truly goes down like this, i recieve a notebook from the future, build a time machine, and then realize i have to tell my younger-self, but instead of giving myself the book i used, i grab another notebook and copy everything in that one, therefore, whatever spare notebook i choose, will have to be the original notebook, and in that sense, the book isnt the main problem, its just the information

No! Time travel is impossible. As you mention in the video if it exists it breaks causality and the only way to explain it is to assume multi-universes which are impossible. The existence of earth is already a miracle by itself thinking that they are more “earth-like” universes is pure fiction. So time travel is impossible.

my Uncle worked for Boeing and now openly admits that time travel is coming in the near future.

I guess, going back in time is not possible, travelling through time to future should be possible by much faster rockets than we have.
