Totally BS and only for aesthetically only. The lap length is 50D meaning 50 times the bar diameter if both bars are of same diameter. When lapping two bars of different diameters, the lap length is considered as 50 times the smaller diameter ~ in accordance to BS 8110.
The kinking serve no value other than aesthetic acceptable but actually weaken the bars at the kinks.

Both wrong.... the right hand side, second set of 4 virtical bars should start from the base and scured with the same thickness bar from the bottom to each other, as you wont be able to stabilize them in the air like in computer screen. Be realistic. And you need to put a horizantal S shapes bar from one corner to another in every 3 squres. Also there is no company out there that will start with a bent virtical bars in this animation. Imagine you have 100+ columns.
