Hello, I can't find the link to the Composite Wood Material? Did you order it through Alibaba? thank you
ОтветитьHow does the boards expand when it has been fastened and glued down?
ОтветитьUhhh……. Use a few different adjectives please. The fake laughs also need to go. Thanks
ОтветитьI'm ripping up my deck (installed circa 1986) to make some repairs/changes. The framing is all pressure treated and for the most part it is in incredible shape. What I did notice, however, and this relates to your use of the joist tape, is that there were some joists that had significant water damage. My theory, is that the nails (yes, they nailed this deck down!) when moving over the years, let water into the boards. People forget that pt lumber is only surface protected. Any penetration/cut in the wood will let moisture in and then it's a countdown to the rot to settle in. So, yeah, I'm team tape now.
ОтветитьJust a note:
Add the tape.
Even pressure treated will rot over time.
20 years ago, I put up a deck, tape had just started to be a thing.
It was ‘expensive’ so I only taped the areas closest to the house.
This year, there were a few areas of the deck that needed to be replaced…
The joists that were not taped had actually started to rot. All the taped boards were like new.
Is it me or does this tool pre drill the holes on the edge of the boards to high? Also seems like 1/4” gap is too big maybe 1/8 to 3/16?
ОтветитьMight want to bust out the caulking gun for those miters 😂
Ответитьwho edits your video?
ОтветитьGood except for BAD idea of routing off the pvc capping to round the edge.
The composite core IS made with some wood and when bare it can absorb water and mildew, rot and all the things that capped boards are supposed to eliminate. (the ends are not caped BUT are not seen)
you ruined the edges of the boards and the corners..taking it from a woodlooking piece of material to .. well crap thats obviously not.
ОтветитьThe jig already!!!!!
ОтветитьI agree that using this composite materials and making mitered corners is tricky. We all like to have nice, tight joints but this requires spacing for expansion. It is almost counterintuitive.
ОтветитьYour main problem with the 1st piece of picture frame was that you were drilling the screws into the edge of the facia boards, instead of the joists. That's why they all kept tilting.
ОтветитьExcellent video
Ответитьi whis this counter would have been there for previouse videos xD
nice work =)
Stop talking 🙊
ОтветитьWhere’s the deck 😂
ОтветитьBeing composite, why would you leave so much space for expansion? I thought you could go closer, no being pure wood..?
ОтветитьWhat was the Trex used?
ОтветитьYour information is beautiful and helpful I hope to be health and safety
ОтветитьCan it actually be called a deck if it only protrudes about a foot from the house?
ОтветитьSome people like a small deck
ОтветитьI am about build a deck myself and this helped with the facia boards. However it may be okay for your size deck but you should never use hidden fasteners with the grooved version of composite boards. Square edge boards should be used.
ОтветитьOne mans craftsmanship is another mans hackery. Yikes!!
ОтветитьSo, you make a face deck to cover it with a wall ?
ОтветитьHas Trex changed their install recommendations with that type of screw used in conjunction with the scalloped bottom of that trex deck board that you had used. Trex install guidelines specifically says your type of screw needs a flat bottom board to get maximum retention strength to eliminate the chance of pull thru of the small screw head.
ОтветитьNice hat!! (Hi-wire enthusiast)
Ответитьlooks like toasted sand.
ОтветитьI am new to the composit deck.. The slider, does that come with the deck or you have to buy them separately?
ОтветитьWow I was waiting for it to get dark. Me thinks Johnny is funded by his dad,or his customers are extremely rich 😳.
Would be nice to have this much time on jobs
I have nothing to say really, but I appreciate your content, and wish to help with the yt-algorithms.
ОтветитьOkay not a bad job, but next time stagger your joints, this will allow for a better appearance even though you hid it, there are plenty of other reasons we suggest staggering, but looks good keep up the work
ОтветитьThat's the smallest deck I've ever seen. That's what she said 😆
ОтветитьPlease don't stop posting
ОтветитьI appreciate you showing your entire process. Including mistakes,, makes it wayyy more real. And actually is one of the reasons I watch your channel.
ОтветитьDrinking game: drink every time he says joist, board, or fascia
ОтветитьWe use Hardie soffit material for the fascia and paint it to match the trim, it’s a nice look.
ОтветитьLooks great.
ОтветитьLove this series!! Your explanations are perfect and you geek the details. Bravo.
ОтветитьTHIS HOUSE IS LOOKING SO SICK!!!!
ОтветитьWhy agonize over the face when you cover it with concrete patio anyway?
ОтветитьWhy did you bother putting fascia boards on the deck if you were just going to put a retaining wall in front of it?
ОтветитьGreat video ogriopher. Terrible carpentry.
Why Bother having an apron When you have a patio? Why bother with the deck at all with a patio?
That entire deck was a complete waste of time and money
clean work was a beautiful design enjoy master
ОтветитьThis series is awesome. Can't wait to see the next video!
ОтветитьAs always, great documentation-- more importantly, I respect the drive and hustle it takes to write and produce these videos every week. You are an effective small business owner. It is inspiring to watch this all happen from the outside. Be well.
ОтветитьComes with a drink counter so I don't have to keep track, Nice! Enjoy the series, keep it up Johnny!
ОтветитьIm not looking forward to this project being done. Ive looked forward to every new video. Thank you for showing us the process.
