i just upgraded my 3600 to the 5900x. im running 1440p ultrawide at 34 inches. the FPS gains i got out of my 3070 on apex is crazy. i have my FPS locked at 175 and it never dips below that. before when i had the r5 3600 it dipped down into the 120's. definitely worth the upgrade.

Ugh - just upgraded my system to a RTX 3080 yesterday w/ 32gb of 3600mhz ram. Looks like my poor little R5 3600 will have to go now too =[ Sorry little buddy you did great but it's time to move on.

Now try again in 4k and see how you go. Who cares about 1080p performance anymore my laptop with a cheap graphics card could run high settings 1080p

I cannot understand why you didn't benchmark nearly the most CPU demanding game "Warzone" ofc with the lowest settings possible

Hello, guys !
I plan to kind of "upgrade" my computer. I'm using ryzen 5 3600 + 2060 super now, and everything works fine.
I dont know if that is a good thing to change the CPU to: ryzen 9 5900x ?
Please inform about it !
thanks you !

When you have an under utilized 3080, the comparison should be at 4K.

На R 5 видеокарта не на 100% нагружена из-за чего и FPS меньше

The real test would be the lowest graphics settings to truly push the CPU to its limit.

Seems to be a problem with the 3600, it is locked at 4100MHz. Now I got a 3600x which is not the same, but it clocked at 4450-4550MHz.

5900x frame pacing is WAY better even if average FPS isn't hugely faster. Look at the 1%, and 0.01%, they are almost the same whereas 3600 has like 20fps gaps meaning the games feel hitchy and stuttery or with delay if you were a sensitive gamer like me.
Whereas the 5900x will feel butter smooth since due to the pace of each frame rendering very evenly.
Looking at avg framerate is a very bad way to buy something you'll regret

Wish we could see this in 1440 too (can't find any) since the games become more gpu bound at that point. Running the 3600 and thinking about upgrading but want to know frames in 1440

Thanks for the great comparison. I'd say, It's it's exactly the debate I have right now since I have a top end GPU and a Ryzen 3600 (Slightly OC'ed to 4.3). The problem is, as others do too I guess, I do have several browser tabs open and other apps as well on the side that takes a small but significant toll to CPU usage. i do not close everything down the moment I decide to jump into a warzone game for 30min at lunchtime, which can impact gameplay... So beefier CPU can be better depending on the use case. For a 99% gaming rig, the 3600 is enough for almost all cases otherwise.

I wod say the 3600 is better .. yes it has 20/40 less fps but look at the power usage and temps its way better besides 100 fps is in general not bad

My R-3600 feels perfectlyt fine on 4.3Ghz (x570 Tomahawk WiFi), not sure why you keep yours at 4.1Ghz... Keep both CPUs at same 4.2 and check the difference, that would be interesting to see what else is improved besides OC range. Another thing is that its more FPS, yes, but it consumes equally more power.

Such an impressive jump in single core performance from the 3000 to 5000 range. However, you would have seen similar jumps in performance by using a 5600x instead of the 5900x. None of these games can really make use of the 5900x to its fullest
