As the Red Army reaches the Dnieper, it raises the question of the importance of rivers in this war. With lightning fast advances bridges are often captured intact, but at battled like Stalingrad rivers have played a defining role.
ОтветитьHow did the soviets supplied millions of soldiers, thousands of tanks, tens of thousands of trucks, thousands of planes with food, ammo, fuel and spare parts on country twice scorched earthed is a question that makes me wondering a lot.
ОтветитьVatutin was one of the more competent Soviet Generals. You rarely hear him referred to much, except sometimes by people 'in-the-know.'

ОтветитьIs that a real gold pocket watch on the book?
ОтветитьJust want to say that you consistently introduce well- researched gems that bring history to life.
ОтветитьYour graphics man is AWESOME, just like the rest of the team. You guys rock!
ОтветитьThe tenacity and determination of the Russians never ceases to amaze me. They singlehandedly had to push the Nazis out of their own country.
ОтветитьShoutout from Sydney, Australia.
Look if we've told the British once! We've told them a million times!
No amphibious landing!!!
Us ANZAC's don't do amphibious landings...
It never ends well!
Can't you stick us in a desert somewhere?
We're good at that!
Besides word is, that the weather in Tabruk is nice this time of year!!!
🤠🤠🤠
Horst transport ?
ОтветитьThe Red army just reached the Dnieper again in October 2022. This time in rapid retreat, LOL.

ОтветитьJust love the channel, the host the info and the facts. Thank you so much- no need for TV in my life. Tim UK.
ОтветитьOfftopic: The Holodomor was caused by the Ukranian themselves, just as they brought shit upon themselves by attacking Donetsk and Lugansk indiscriminately. It is not a secret amongst historians the fact that the latifundiary class in Ukraine killed half of the cattle and burned a huge part of the grain production as a last measure attempt against land reform. After land reform Ukraine never had another episode of hunger, which was very common occurence in Ukrainian history.
ОтветитьIf this series does anything it shows how Americanised the war is in the US. Students in history classes today in the US don't get taught basically anything from the other nations in the war meanwhile where was taught in Canada there was a bunch about all the allies just more focus on the Canadians
ОтветитьHey Indy, just a random show suggestion (for aesthetics, because the content is muy perfecto)…each show starts with a black screen and then immediately the sound of a phone ringing. Then we see you answering the phone and [insert your usual weekly phone dialogue here].
Just a thought. No need to change though since I’ve enjoyed and been watching since that haunting/mildly depressing intro to the Great War! Thanks for all you do!
Hey man you doing anything for October 1?
ОтветитьOne of the things that caused problems with the Panthers was that originally it was planned to be 35 tons. So the engines were originally designed for a tank of that weight. But after the plans moved forward, they were ordered to increase the amount to 42 tons in order to improve the frontal armor. This put more strain on the transmission, which is what led to some of the early engine problems with them.
ОтветитьThis week the Ukrainians have reached the dinipro
ОтветитьStarted this series a few weeks ago. I thought it was finished....but.........dam.....now we have to wait each week 🥲🥲
ОтветитьSmolensk? Mein furor, I guarantee I'll be killed, hanged for war crimes or spend 20yrs in Siberia
ОтветитьMussolini: I've made the people passionately hate me

You spelled Kyiv wrong
ОтветитьAs an Australian, I am surprised we keep landing at the wrong beaches so much...
ОтветитьHi Y'all,
We have an odd TV channel called C-Span, it shows live Congressional coverage during the day, but on weekends it has a van that goes around the country to book fairs and interviews authors.
I bet they would let you show your program at 3:00 AM on a Sunday, wouldn't pay you anything for it, but it would be good exposure.
That is the theory, thanks for your time, take care.
Is 5th corp German or Romanian?
ОтветитьI'm waiting for news from Naples next week. The resistance of neapolitan people to German soldiers, and how civilians pushed out of the city the military forces that occupied Naples.
(I tried to write grammatically correct phrases, but I hope that they are understandable)
How in the fuck am I just now discovering this channel, holy shit I’ve got some hours to put in this series.
ОтветитьHi Y'all,
A movie that is out of time, but is correct "geographically", is "It Started in Naples", starring Clark Gable and Sophia Loren.
Watch the scenery, most of it is either straight up or straight down.
Thanks, take care.
Just saw Sabaton live for the first time, thank you for supporting them!
ОтветитьWhat about the CBI?
ОтветитьThe Romanians hold their ground and the German infantry runs from the Soviet tanks, what a week! The "ubermen" become frightened and demoralised as they have to retreat over the Dniester and a "lesser race" from the Balkans is learning how to fight on the Eastern front.
Ответить1941-1944. Also know as when Finland tried to conquer the Soviet Union. Co-belligerent? Sure. Didnt take part in sieging Leningrad? Sure. If Germans won Finland would have been larger with ethnic cousins joining? Maybe. War is hell. Finns dont speak much of this period. No wonder. Current propaganda and school books of our neighbor say we started winter war in 1939. Sure. I' m sure Poland attacked Germany and USSR too in 1939.
ОтветитьGreat maps as ever! Will the coming winter save the Germans? Anything major happing in the CBI?
ОтветитьLooking at the title, for a moment I doubted if it was a video concerning 2022 or 1943 😬
Ответить¡Gracias!
ОтветитьIndy has been using "New Zealander" wrong since waaaay back in the World War One series. If you are referring to a group of troops from New Zealand, it's "New Zealand troops". No one from NZ would say "New Zealander troops".
ОтветитьGermans executed 5000 POWs. Why am I not surprised?
ОтветитьSo, who's responsible for not cutting off the enemy retreat from the Italian islands? Please, don't tell me it's Mark Clark. Didn't Eisenhower, Bradley, Marshall, Roosevelt... Patton... anyone, realize the strategic situation?
Ответить"The Germans reach the Dnieper for the second time! Just this time, in the opposite direction."
Ответитьis this where CROSS OF IRON starts out
ОтветитьYou're supposed to call them "Little" Subs.
ОтветитьI want to point out that a lot of the forced workers also deliberately sabotage the equipment slightly. Like it passes inspection but fails sooner. Like a factory that produced artillery shells made 500,000 duds.
ОтветитьA tip: in the future, consider putting a legend with the hours/days in the map. When the map advances slowly, it's hard to keep track of when exactly did it happen
ОтветитьWaiting for that headline grabbing winter offensive 22-23
