DJI Mini 2 ACTIVE TRACK With LITCHI

I did the stupid thing of buying it to is there any way of getting a refund of Apple cause it is that bad some people say it’s amazing but it’s a piece of crap absolute shit I don’t trust it only time I’ve ever crashed my mini two is with litchi app :( and fuck the gimbal sorry about the language but I’ve had to use care refresh and I’m not admitting to using this app. I want to like this video 100 times it is the absolute truth.

Does Maven app have control over the camera contrast etc? Doesn't say on the app store. Only waypoints etc...

You can use this app in mini 3 using follow me mode & how good or bad is that?

thank you so much for this video! I have been driving myself crazy trying to get the follow and track options to work. They suck! The documentation on how to use with DJi could be a lot better as well. I couldn't figure out the 2 finger thing, so that was good to hear. Also, the pin that turns green when you hit it and normally, you'd drop a pin on what you want to track- that doesn't work at all. I don't even know what that pin is for. The gimble doesn't follow you either!!! You have to do it manually in order to keep yourself in frame. Garbage as far as those 2 options are concerned. I have the Air 2s, so I don't need them, but with all the hype, I did want to see what they were capable of. I will play with the waypoints missions- the real reason I bought it anyway- to see if that is good. That is something my DJi app doesn't have.

Tested it several times now, and it's working fine, most of the time at least. With strong wind for example, the drone has problems to keep following. But I have some really nice videos on the beach with the tracking.

I dont find it too bad to be fair. I have had much better results than you on a Mavic Mini aswell...

The Waypoint feature in Litchi is fantastic. It is the reason I picked up a Mini 2 in mid-May rather than a Mini 3 Pro (well, cost was definitely a consideration also).

I do not use any other feature of Litchi on my Mini 2 as they are too unreliable - but the robust WayPoint functionality makes the cost of the app worth it - for me.

Being able to plan a mission on the web via the Mission Hub and having it automatically loaded into the app is very nice. ... or vice versa - plan on controller in app and it is saved to your account on the Web.

You can save missions - and then re-fly them later. ..... or re-fly right away with a different filter on, etc.

IMO, the DJI hyperlapse functionality is not even close to what Litchi provides.

Thanks Darren, not gonna lie I’m getting impatient with saving up for the mini 3 lol so when I heard about this app I seriously considered getting either the SE or mini 2 and using this app to cut my cost and waiting time down! But after watching this I think I’ll just persevere with my impatience for the mini 3 lol

It's ridiculous for Dji to have a fantastic Drone like the mini 2 and not have activetrak, even SPARK had it?! This is a patch to get a Drone of less than 250 grms without having to pay another €400 for the mini 3 pro. Of course that's the goal of dji.

The Tracking is pretty craptacular. Unless you're up close to the object and it stands out, Litchi won't so much.

On the other hand, in Follow Me mode, it's not bad at all; in fact it was exactly what I wanted and worked great. Set your distance and your heading properly and it does a really good job

I have a video on my channel where I did a litchi experiment while in riding my quad at 30kmh and it kept up to me, I was always in frame... Perfect for what I wanted it to do.

Love your Vlogs but Don't agree with you on this one. We know that Mini2 has no sensors so we need to use it sensibly whatever app is used. Tried Litchi today in an open field, tried the various settings and worked fine for me.

I've been trying to use track mode on my mini2 using litchi but once I've selected the subject all the mini wants to do is oscillate sideways and the gimbal moves up and down. all other modes are fine. Any ideas

Yeah, I also wasted my money on the Litchi app when I got my Mavic Mini way back. Once they said they supported the Mini 2, I went ahead and tested it out and something scary happened. I tested it in my living room first just to see what was what. The drone was hovering in place and all of a sudden, the drone gave out a weird sound and SHUT OFF. It dropped to the ground! Luckily it landed on the carpet and no damage was done, but that was scary. The app was still running so no idea what happened there. I had never seen the drone just drop like that. That was the first and last time I tried it with my mini 2. Fly app all the way. I'd love to have active track, but I must accept the limitations of the Mini 2. Thanks for the video, it is the truth in my view.

Use litchi follow mode, I can shot myself driving and cycling. The waypoint mode is also good feature, combining google earth, you can plan your flight and actually see the video in google earth. Track is the mode, nobody use. Why you use a useless feature of the app to do a video showing audience this bias idea? If we have the money to buy Mavic 3, there is no point to watch a video regarding mini 2. But this 20 bucks app give some feature we can utlize for a mini 2 pilot.

Well if you really think about it there's a reason why they dont put those features on the Mini 2, DJI always think about safety first.

I'd like to save that money if in case the Mini 3 turns out really good, I'd have something to purchase it with!

I haven't tried 3rd party apps for my Mini 2 before but I can really see how it's appealing to more serious flyers. For a casual user like me, the FlyApp is good enough!

I’ve used it extensively and it works fine in the main. The tracks not amazing the follow is fine. You just need to use a bit of common sense regarding the lack of sensors. The mission mode is really great as is the FPV. The DJI fly app is solid but has had its issues remember! I still use it in the main but Lichi adds some interesting features in some areas I fly. Darren love your content, your videos helped me when I started and continue to do so.I don’t agree with your slating of the app though.

I have learnt my lesson now, never ever ever try and save people money because all you gonna get back stupid replies. So go ahead and buy the app if you want too. If you love it great. but DM has shown you how crap it is and he’s telling you the truth.

Hiya Darren I know what you mean its rubbish every second losing me so I gave it on active trick. But I do like using the FPV split screen on the app with my goggles that part of the litchi app works fine for me. May I ask I'm going off the subject but have you had any cracks appearing on your mini 2, I keep getting small cracks I've already change the shell before and its cracking again. I've never crashed my mini 2 and I havant over tighten the screws, so why am I getting stress cracks, it seems to be happening around the spring part of the arms where it locks the arms into place front arms and back ones. I do fly in sports mode sometimes do you think that could be causing stress in the plastic.

As much as I'd like to have an Active Track on my Mini 2, I'd just settle with the tracking hack using Quickshots for now! It has the same effect in the footage anyway! 😁

For me I like the alternative.... also you still get access to advanced settings that dji fly wont seem to let you use (like turning VPS off)


Plus it has poor mans VR FPV mode.... now that shit is cool!

Thanks for the tip. Drones that are not manufactured with active track or obstacle avoidance are not made to do it, so weather you can do it with a third party app like Litchi, common sense esays don't do it. And this video shows why not to do it. TY for sharing

Thanks for clarifying this for once and for good. Of course it is tempting to get this app. I do cycling videos. But that would be a good way to crash my drone. I'll put $ 21.99 (or whatever) toward my DJI Mini 3 fund 😁👍

I'm sorry this app doesn't work for you. Ibuse this app for construction hyperlapses. DJI doesn't give an option to repeat an orbit with exact parameters like radius, height and gimbal angle. So i use it for that.

I think it's such a shame we didn't see your facial expression as it flew at you. It feels like you don't enjoy the app, or is that just the feeling I'm getting.

I was using Litchi App and I crashed my drone it was Mavic pro. And no replacement by DJI.

Definitely room for improvement!
Not a bad app though on android, in follow mode with the dynamic homepoint activated, once set works brilliantly, but I totally get it.
Litchi is good for a bit of fun occasionally and has it's place, if you can't afford the air 2s or mavic 3 👍

The Extra features of Litchi are nice,also threre are more color settings.If someone is afraid that using active track is dangerous without sensors,simply use it only at an area free of obstacles.
