Hey man this was a really nice video! This really looks like a channel I will take time to bc check out because I grow these and have pods full of seeds from this past season and hopes to get some sprouted. Mine came from a catalog nursery and I describe the flowers as “out of this world as if even alien like” very cool flower and seed pods. I love that they’re native species to this region. Do you have a video on Wallflowers? I accidentally pulled them the first year or two until they bloomed one day lol Smells amazing and bloomed wow like most of the season! Gave me lots of seeds as well I also hope to sprout. I’m not even sure where they came from, if I planted them from a wildflower seed pack or may have been here already. Take care and happy growing! ☮️💜🌱🌼
Ответитьfor germination, i've had wildly good results using a heat mat underneath the seed tray, with germination in as little as 2-3 days!
ОтветитьThank you for all of this information but especially for your method of removing the seed floss when opening the pods.
ОтветитьHi. Can a milkweed be moved to a different area if potted? Will having a new location hurt the caterpillars? I have a plant with 11 caterpillars and a lot of eggs. I would hate to lose them. I live in South FL
ОтветитьHi- I use my dogs’ poop around my plants. It keeps everything away when it comes to animals like ground hogs, chipmunks, rabbits, deer etc. thanks for the video!
Ответитьvery informative video. Thank you
ОтветитьShould you just leave them go through the winter and trim the foliage back in the spring?
ОтветитьLove this plant!
ОтветитьMine just get eaten by the Monarch caterpillars and look like twigs but I'm ok with that. It's what I planted it for ❤ The aphids that collect are bothersome though.
ОтветитьDefinitely a magical plant 🌱 for pollinators and gardeners that want a manicured look to make neighbors happy without the need for many inputs. That being said, what is a good handful of companion plants that would keep with the manicured front garden appearance that continue texture and color year round? Thank you for all you do and in advance for any insight.
Located eastern mid Atlantic in delaware between Maryland and Pennsylvania
Thankyou!
ОтветитьI have grown them for years. I have never had monarchs lay eggs on them. When they bloom they seem to attract bees and wasps but no butterflies. I also have showy milkweed which sends out runners everywhere. Both milkweeds put out lots of seeds but I get no seedlings.
ОтветитьTy for the informative video! i’m in NW Indiana. We used to farm our 2 acres, but have not been able the last 2-yrs… Helping to save monarchs & filling the field with beauty would be an awesome way to use it! Can anyone here direct me to seed or seedlings? i esp love the orange, butterfly weed! But would love to plant multiple milkweed species! or even other plants that any might encourage to enhance the beauty & invite such as butterflies, hummingbirds, etc…💗 But i need help to get started!! i’ve just stumbled on the need for monarch preservation, and instantly thought “i can help! plus this would help me to have beauty in field vrs non pretty weeds! 💗💗💗 Help Please!!
ОтветитьVery helpful, thank you ❤❤❤
ОтветитьEvolution is mindless random chance. No mind no design. Be loyal. The word evolution is coined to name the idea of mindless random chance.
ОтветитьI recently received a bouquet of flowers and it had butterfly weed in it. I wasn’t sure what type of flower it was, but now I do! I really enjoyed your video and look forward to planting my own butterfly weed.
ОтветитьI love Butterfly Weed, too, but it grows slowly, and only the third year it looks gorgeous, but starting with the fourth year it starts to fall to the sides. All the stems tend to grow almost horizontally to the sides (though they are thick and strong). Those closer to the center are a little more upright, but still the very center is wide open. Does anybody know why this happens? It blooms profusely in the third year, but very little in the fourth year. I never fertilize it, and the soil drainage is good. No mulch. I have many of them in different areas of my yard, and the same thing happens to all of them. Any suggestions?
ОтветитьI’d like to plant butterfly weed in an area I also have to mow. Is it ok to mow once a year and it will still come back? I appreciate any help.
ОтветитьGreat informative video Thank you!
ОтветитьFun fact: in the early days in America the women made lovely little capes by sewing EACH seed onto the fabric making a fluffy fur-like garment. I saw one in a museum. Those women had patience😻.
ОтветитьMy B’weed is still blooming‼️my house (my town) was burned to the ground in the 2018 Camp Fire in CA. For almost 5 yrs the milkweed & 1 Salvia have come back every spring. There is NO WATER available yet. When I finally get my house rebuilt I’m planting LOTS of milkweed‼️THANK YOU for you great program & info.😻
ОтветитьWould it be a companion plant to my roses?
ОтветитьCan I buy butterfly weed already partly grown..
ОтветитьI just received a packet of Asclepias speciosa from my local city for planting. How is this different from the tuberosa you are talking about? Thank you for an informative video.
ОтветитьI love love love my Milk Weed. Have it planted throughout the flower beds. The orange color is so beautiful. Two years ago a caterpillar made the cocoon on our side porch railing. WOW, is all I can say! Have pictures from the start till it emerged. Had to protect it from the Grasshoppers with netting, they were thinking lunch. It really had no place to go so it got on my daughters shoulder, ( I think they have to dry off before flying away) and stayed there till it flew away. What an experience!!! This video was helpful. Thank you 🐛🦋
ОтветитьIf you cut the other end and hold the uncut end, peel back the cover and the seeds all fall off the fluff with a gentle twist.🤗🦋
Ответитьthanks so much for this informative video!
ОтветитьI saw this in the wild in Northern Utah, took a photo, and that led me to this video. Very cool. I'd like to grow this in my yard.
ОтветитьWill the root stock/plants and any seeds survive a winter burn of a field? We have several acres of open field with scattered butterfly weed stands. We want to burn off non-native grasses and create open ground to broadcast native wild flower seeds including more butterfly weed.
ОтветитьI got the Skechers ad, is there anybody making an uglier shoe than Skechers?
ОтветитьThanks for this‼️ I needed it❤️
ОтветитьWhat a fabulous video you have created. I grow the beautiful plant in my garden, and yes, it takes a good three years to mature and get to a lovely size. I had no idea that I could use those seed pods to create another plant because I bought mine as a Tuber. Everybody that visits my garden, "wants a cutting" and I tell them it does not grow from "cuttings"...Now I will be able to share my beautiful Butterfly Weed plant with everyone that wants them. I will also give them a link to your video creation. Thank you for posting this!
Ответить@GrowIt Buildit What's the beautiful 'ferny/ frondy" looking plant growing to the left of, or up and through the Asclepias in your video? It's lovely!
ОтветитьGet to the freakin' point. I already know what it is, and why I'm planting Asclepias.
ОтветитьThis is a fantastic overview... thanks!
ОтветитьI planted my first Butterfly Weed plant last week and the buds are opening up. It's a great size for my garden, the colour is beautiful, however, it does not get full sun so I hope it with at least grow and continue to flower next year.
ОтветитьDo you need to dry the seeds before stratifying or winter sowing them?
ОтветитьI enjoyed this learning you have shared now I want to grow this plant. Thank you for the learning show. I look forward to others
ОтветитьI got free Butterfly Weed seeds with my last Baker Creek order. I am a vegetable gardener, so know nothing about it.
You answered all my questions. Thx!
Excellent class. Explained everything I needed to know & to care for my newly identified orange beauty that popped into our garden... butterfly weed
ОтветитьDoes butterfly weed not have the same negative impacts as tropical milkweeds? Not challenging you I’m just genuinely asking before I plant in North Carolina zone 7.
ОтветитьWhat about growing it in large pots? I rent and don’t want to put them in the ground soil.
ОтветитьWhat is the name of the 'sensitive plant' fern looking plant you have to the left of your butterfly weed?
Ответитьmy milkweeed plant is dieing: leaves have dots, spider webs, leaves turns yellow , dry and falls out. What do I do?:(
I have 20 catapilars right now who need food😮😢
Please help!
You ever grow Asc Perennis?
ОтветитьIve tried to plant this fir 2 years. It lives for about 3 weeks, then the top leaves (closest to sun) turn yellow and, slowly, whole plant turns yellow and dies. No odea why. Can anyone help? Eastern Shore of Maryland. Sandy, drought-probe soil
ОтветитьIf I have only a single plant, and no other known asclepias tuberosa nearby, will the flowers still be able to be pollinated?

ОтветитьAre you worried about what 1Yohannan 4 says about the Anti-christ spirit? He tells us that if we dont believe that Yah has a Son and sent Him in the flesh then we are deceived or not testing the spirits. 😢😢😢
Oh please please test!
Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. In this was manifested the love of Yah toward us, because of that
👉Yah SENT his only begotten Son into the world, that WE might live through him.
1 John 4:1-6, 9 KJV
John 17 These words spake YAHUSHUA, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
(Is He talking to Him self and praying to himself? )
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true Yah, AND Yeshua Messaih, whom thou hast sent. (Thats a Father & a Son...two beings, not one right?
