Where is the best place to find small projects/freelance work?
ОтветитьI'll be sharing this with my fellow educator friends who are considering a change. Keep up the fantastic work!
ОтветитьMaking a comment here to hear from anyone working in this field without ANY degree. In the real world, have you gotten a job as an instructional designer with out ANY degree.
ОтветитьVery valuable video, well said that we don't need to settle for entry level ID jobs as a fresher if our portfolio is strong and engaging.😊
ОтветитьThe most exp i have is making personal google slides 😭 i want to get a certificate in ID.
ОтветитьI’m going back to the drawing board with freelancing. None of jobs I got after getting my Masters required much ID work. It really crushed my dreams, but I’m hoping to get the right experience elsewhere
ОтветитьWhere can I find examples of great ID portfolios so I know what I should aim to build for myself?
ОтветитьI stumbled on your videos on how to write learning objectives and the one on ID. Is there an email address that one reach you through?
ОтветитьGreat video. I manage an Instructional Design Master's degree. We don't have tests, but use projects that instructional designers use in the "Real World". We require students creat a portfolio that they created with real clients. So it is possible to get a degree that helps students create a professional...Greg Williams, University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC)
ОтветитьI'm a school adviser for 9 years .do you think this major is related to ID?
ОтветитьThank you for this. I'm seeking a mentor and opportunities to volunteer.....any suggestions?
ОтветитьHey Devlin is there any chance where animation industry experience will be counted while applying to instructional designer role ??
ОтветитьThe checklist is so helpful. Hoping and praying I could start my Instructional Designer career someday soon. Thank you for this!
ОтветитьThe language is what I need. I have taught and counseled middle school to university. I left my job in higher education right before COVID hit. I am over 50. I have five degrees and am having a difficult time landing a position. I see all of these ID jobs that I have not applied for because I don't have specific experience - but I have been creating curricula and designing in-class content for decades. Additionally, I have been creating content for my FB page for years. I left a $50 an hour job a few years ago, I am trying to make at least that now, working from home.
ОтветитьAwesome video! Could you suggest a few active communities of IDs?
ОтветитьI worked assistant professor job in 4 year and i am planning to join id job could u suggest develop the id
ОтветитьI am in India i done course in instructional designer but still i didn't get job . Is there any portal for getting job special in
ОтветитьI have completed master degree in communications but 8 have no experience can I join this course ...
ОтветитьI appreciate all your videos, can I ask where I can apply as ID thank you
ОтветитьHi Devlin, I've worked as a content writer for 4 years in Ed tech in India. I've had an opportunity to brainstorm the ideas for instructional design for 1+ year bereft using any software/tool. It feels scary to explore the unknown with my circumstances, but I will implement what you spoke about. I will update you when I complete my career transition. Thanks!
ОтветитьWow! Thank you so much for the great tips! Saw your other video the other day about flagship and supporting projects and currently am working on those. You're awesome!
ОтветитьThank you!!!!
ОтветитьCan you still make money with no college?? I have been at my job for 10 years and my current manager wants to move me in this role. I want this job please help me.
ОтветитьHi there , I'm from Technical background. If I'm planning to switch to ID how long it might take to prepare and be ready for interview?
I just have 3 months with me. Is this sufficient?
Thank you for this information I’ve been trying to transition from the education field into corporate as an ID. I was looking for best ways to prepare and your mention of a portfolio sparked my interest. I’m definitely going to create one.
Ответить🤩 Devlin, you’re my savour, so juicy information!
ОтветитьYou are giving me so much hope with your videos. I'm a former instructor / teacher with 12 years of teaching and coaching experience as well as a Master's in education and yet in the professional world sometimes it appears that I'm about as qualified as a door greater at Walmart
ОтветитьWhere to find the portfolio video?
ОтветитьLove from India
ОтветитьDear Devlin thanks for your great videos.
I have two masters degree, one is MS in IDDE, second one is MEd in Educational Technology. Because of the small kids I haven't work and 0 experience. I have been applying to the jobs but I did not get any response to my applications.
I don't have much about the specifics of jobs, for example HTML, Adobe, Visio etc. (each job wants different things)
I don't know what to do?
THANK YOU. I can feel the teacher burnout slowly creeping into my life. I need a career change. Thank you for the direction and helpful ideas.
ОтветитьThank you, Devlin! Found you & your content recently--very appreciative of you sharing your expertise! If I were still teaching--you'd be a regular classroom guest speaker to encourage my students.
ОтветитьI think the most intimidating part for me is putting together a portfolio - mainly because I don't know when I will find the time to do this.
ОтветитьThis is going to change my life. Thank you.
ОтветитьHi, Devlin... Thanks for the info... I am a teacher of 20 years and I have a Master's degree in Education Technology. Also, I am highly skilled in Photoshop, web development, and music production. I am highly interested in ID. Even though my degree is not in ID, does my Ed. Tech degree (oh, and also my other skills) give me an advantage as I move towards getting a full time position in ID?
ОтветитьHi Devlin, pls make a video on Need of formal degree to become an ID professional. Thanks
ОтветитьHi Devlin! I'm so glad I've came across your channel! Action Mapping helped me started creating my own designs for the last couple of months. I've been reading a lot about learning theories. I Would love if you can make a video on learning theories, specially Metacognition and how to include that theory into your designs. Some examples would be amazing!
ОтветитьThis title is unfortunate as it requires so much knowledge and skills to design EFFECTIVE instruction.
ОтветитьVery informative and well-prepared. Thank you Devin for sharing your expertise.
ОтветитьHi Devlin,
Your videos are so extremely helpful! I am graduating with a master's degree in ID and did an ID internship this past summer but I am getting rejected from everything I am applying to, which is asking for a max of 3 years of experience (also got rejected after a second interview from the only place that called me). I don't even think anyone is looking at my portfolio (I have it linked in my resume). Any tips? I reached out to a couple of recruiters on LinkedIn and one referred me which is great but I am struggling to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Thank you for giving your time to provide these great videos.
ОтветитьI just discovered you today and thank you so much for the knowledge Devlin! Been trying to break into the ID field, no luck so far but wont give up. Just would like to ask - whats a fair minimum rate that I can charge clients especially for someone starting out - hourly or per project? Thanks again!
ОтветитьHow to build a portfolio? I have a diploma in Instructional Designing and M.A. in Education but I am a fresher without any experience.
ОтветитьWhich one is best captivate or storyline??I have done short projects in captivate ,will that get counted?
ОтветитьThank you, so much useful information!!
ОтветитьHi Devlin, great content thanks for the video.
Can you advise how you can differentiate yourself from other IDs? Particularly when posting on freelance websites for work.
You are completely on point. I’m so glad that I found your channel!
ОтветитьIm about update my laptop to suite my goal of being an Instructional Designer. What specs/applications do I need to look for when buying a laptop?
