Played this as a kid but that's beside the point, props to you man I enjoyed your video and the effort you put in blast from the passed for me
ОтветитьWE NEED ODDWORLD TO COME BACK !!
ОтветитьI wish there will be a new game with old 1 and 2 atmosphere. The atmosphere and story of these 2 games were just so strong and unique. In my opinion Other games than odyssee and exodus is just a trash in comparasion eith these two.
New story (what was before odyssee or after exodus) would be a masterpiece if they keep the old visuals and 2d in new graphics.
Other part is music it's also very unique and deep.
Abe Odyssee and Exodus in games is like Shawshank redemption in movies. It basically has it all
I have only played the oddysee but today I remember how much I loved the game.
ОтветитьFuck Japan and there backwards thinking
ОтветитьI thought these games were so fun. But my brothers couldn't get them and thought i was weird for enjoying them. I only played the ones with Abe though. Not Munches odyssey
ОтветитьHello!
Hello?
Follow me
Okay
the "elite" that rule the earth are just as or more ruthless than the "industrialist" its even right in your face with level names like "flouride testing" cigs are addictive becuase some other junk put in it more than the nico.
ОтветитьI only found out about this series through a funny Twitter image this is crazy
ОтветитьLove this Series. Always hoping for more.
Ответитьwe need a sequel to stranger's wrath. That game was pretty short but action packed
ОтветитьI really like this game, I was the best playing it in the 90s , very good game.
ОтветитьJust will the damn creators please finish a one disk trilogy of Oddworld called oddworld finally home . The longest game finally bunched to satisfy us
ОтветитьThis one one of my favorite games as a kid. My dad worked in video game publishing and this game came across his desk and we played it all the time ❤
ОтветитьI still think odyssey was the best, ahead of its time with graphics, sound effects are insanely cool.
ОтветитьExoddus is by far my favourite. I had high hopes for New'n'Tasty and Soulstorm. But I find them too vibrant and colourful and lack the grim mood and dense atmosphere of the first two.
ОтветитьGreat video! Very interesting about the cultural significances. I just got Soulstorm though and, to my surprise, Abe has four fingers again. Guess OI went back to their original design.
ОтветитьI can't believe abe and munch was comsider their "worst" they did. I loved that game, played the shit out of it
ОтветитьAbes odyssey blew my mind as a kid in the late 90's
Ответитьalso, playing it on PS ...hmm, bad choice. graphics on PC is superior.
Ответитьas an old hard core fan, have to say, ive never liked any of these new remakes, or new games, even anything after Abes Exoddus. Those 2 were superb. Exoddus remake named New n Tasty was...not good. BUT i will always buy any new game to support and as appreciation for making my childhood better
ОтветитьI used to love making Abe fart lol
ОтветитьI'm hoping that the team does a sequel to Strangers Wrath, I grew up on that game. And it ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger, I just desperately want to see where they would take that story and Stranger
ОтветитьWhere strangers wrath 2
ОтветитьNever knew about munch I also never had an Xbox
ОтветитьDid soulstorm come out?
ОтветитьSadly Soulstorm was a let down in comparison to Abe's Exodus.
ОтветитьI can't speak for anyone else, but Strangers Wrath speaks to me in ways I can't describe. It just feels right 😊

ОтветитьThe very first off world was my favorite
ОтветитьThey need to bring them all back out for PlayStation 5
ОтветитьI know most fans prefer Exodus, but I always prefered Oddysey.
One of the big strengths of Oddworld games is the environments. They shine by their variety, coherence and beauty.
For me, the environments of the Odyssey have much more charm than those of the Exodus.
In both games, there are environments dedicated to paramites and scrabs. I find that the atmosphere, the colors, are much more mythical in Paramonia and Scrabania than in Mudanchee and Mudomo. Similarly for Rupture Farms, I find the atmosphere and the scenery more remarkable than in the Soulstorm Brewery.
No environment of the Exodus took my jaws off as much as the moonlit night after the escape from Rupture Farms.
In fact, it seems almost incomparable to me because the atmosphere of the Odyssey is so much better than that of the Exodus. I talked about the visuals, but the music also plays its part.
Exodus has more mechanics anyway. For example, you can possess farts, which is not so useful, I have the impression that they put it there just for the fun of it. That said, the real big new mechanical is mostly the emotions of the mudokons. That was a really good idea. We also have all the new enemies, some of them bring more or less things, it depends. Odyssey didn't need this kind of elements to become cult: all the features of Exodus, although some of them are very well thought out, finally distract us from the purpose of the game when we think about it, where a more simplified gameplay allows to bring out Odyssey theme much more. To support this point a little more with an example, one novelty is that you can possess paramites and scrabs, it gives a feeling of power and you lose that feeling of being the skinny character that everyone wants to eat so characteristic of Odyssey.
Odyssey has a more simplistic gameplay, but it relies more on the level design to renew itself than on new features. The Exodus allows more things for the level design necessarily thanks to its new mechanics, but is its level design really better for all that? There are several passages in Exodus where you have to validate puzzles behind x doors to be able to continue. This is also the case in Odyssey, but it is much less abundant. In Odyssey, it again serves the purpose of the game: we meet this pattern in the form of initiation tests in both Scrabania and Paramonia, then later in the Zulag levels when Abe returns to free his people, we can see that as the ultimate test after the initiations. In Exodus, it unfortunately doesn't make as much sense, it's only puzzles posed like that without any justification for the way they are presented. Moreover, we find quite a few empty screens in Exodus (I think in particular of Bonewerks).
The dynamic of Odyssey seems to me superior, because Exodus is longer, but I have the feeling that Odyssey is more focused on its level design and the coherence of the whole.
I would say that the Exodus is Odyssey longer, with more enemies and more mechanics, but finally with less charm.
I had obviously played New'n Tasty in 2014 when it came out. I recommend playing the game on hard to get the real experience with instant death, otherwise the puzzles are a bit broken. The game is already facilitated, the fact that we do not go from screen to screen but that the levels are continuous gives some flexibility in the puzzles compared to the original. We also have this famous system of savestates that has been added, I find it a bit of "too much" because there are a lot of checkpoints.
I would give 2 small weaknesses to this remake:
- No video, obviously, whereas we had one in 97
- The atmosphere is a bit distorted, the colors are often quite flashy whereas the original seemed much more macabre.
There are also some design choices that I find a bit weird, before we hid in the shadows and here they added a smoke effect in these places, it comes out of nowhere when we are outside.
This remake is still very good and very well done, it was really nice to see Oddworld back on the scene! I hope a lot of players will be able to discover this franchise thanks to this remake.
To give a quick word on Munch's Odyssey, the gameplay is changing from 2D to 3D, but that's not the only thing that's changing: the medium is changing from the PS2 to the Xbox, the publisher is changing from GT Interactive to Microsoft. Indeed, a lot of complications were encountered with the PS2, so they migrated to Microsoft which opened the doors wide. The transition to 3D for Abe will finally be quite difficult, between the repetitive and not very inspired sceneries, the gameplay not easy to take in hand (camera, jumping...) and gameplay elements not very well researched like the green balls to collect, we are far from the intelligent mechanics of 2D games. I played it for the first time not so long ago on Steam, like 5 years ago, it was the only one I had never taken the time to play, I had a good time but it's true that these criticisms are quite justified and fortunately the storytelling is still there. Lorne will admit to having lost himself in too many ambitious ideas that were ultimately not very well realized, which will kind of kill the franchise before it is reborn with New'n Tasty in 2014.
And Stranger's Wrath, well, very underrated in my opinion!
Used to play the demo version when I was little lol
Ответитьmediums...? media
ОтветитьMy favorite was by far munchs odyssey! I can easily see how halo outshined it but it was still an awesome game and i wish we saw creativity like that again instead of cod 364
ОтветитьOddworld Abe's Oddysee/Exodus were my favorite games on the PlayStation. The Steam versions suck, lazy ports, can't chant nor pick up/throw grenades.
ОтветитьOddworld’s original vision is what I hope my book series will become.
Of course I haven’t published anything yet, but I hope to publish the first one in 2025!
Wouldn't it make more sense for the factory worker characters to have four fingers though
ОтветитьGood evening.
ОтветитьPS all stars battle royale did actually have DLCpacks. i clearly remember buying kat from gravity rush in it
ОтветитьI thought this was a lore timeline lol
ОтветитьMunchs odyssey made my life as a kid so much fun
ОтветитьI remember as a very small kid playing my grandpa's Xbox and running around in munch's oddysee. i had no idea what I was meant to be doing or what the premise of the game was, but the opening scene where munch realized he was alone always made me sad, even back then. I simply enjoyed running around in the world, blowing up and scooting around in munch's wheelchair, they are some of my earliest memories gaming
ОтветитьI’ve only ever played odyssey and exodus.
So I need to hear the new farts before I can say anything about the other games.😂😂
It’s a shame that none of my friends know about this franchise
ОтветитьI think Oddworld Abe's Exoddus is the best one.
