Can you do the same thing with induction motor, but with no magnets in rotor? I know, it's difficult, but I heard it's possible.

Your main fault was you set the magnetic polarity totally wrong...for a four pole motor you need 2 n pole and 2 s poles 180° apart....try it

Because you are doing fun projects, you might as well use a friction rotator contacting the bike wheel, the efficiency lost would be very low at a high pressure wheel and low pression friction contact.

hi my fiend! you should put the same number an size of poles than the stator. for example in 3000 rpm motor a half rotor with north pole and another half with south pole magnet. for a 1500 rpm 4 poles of a quaeter of rotor N/S/N/S. with many magnets the magnetic poles in the rotor cant put the size of a pole need by the size of a coil. thanks to share your experiments! best reggards!

Is it possible to take a generator head from let’s say a 5000w home generator and put dc power to it to drive other projects? I’ve never seen a video on this nor have I ever heard anyone talking about it. I know generator head will produce electricity when spun by a petro engine. I’m wanting to put direct current DCV to the generator head in hopes that I’ll be able to get the generator head to spin.

you can add capacitors in parallel to the stator winding to make self excited induction generator. You will need a little residual magnetic field to start working, but you can start the machine as a motor first and then turn of the power supply and start rotating the shaft. That way you don't need pernament magnets. But with self excited induction generator you will need to adjust the capacitance when the electrical load change because if you overload the generator it will demagnetise and hense will stop producing electrical energy

I assume the motor is single phase you need a capacitor to generate a higher voltage that is why people use three phase and make sure it's connected in star connection

I think that the main problem you had here is the number of magnetic poles you chose. If the stator has p = 1 (1 pair of poles, or 2 poles) your rotor needs to have also 2 poles. In this case, if you choose 8 magnets, you can put 4 adjacent magnets with the north pole facing outwards, and the other 4 adjacent ones with the south pole facing outwards. Otherwise, for each phase, a EMF will be induced in each coil but they will not have the same phase, so you can get them totally or partially cancelled.

If you go with the 2 pair of poles motor, you can do the same, but creating 2 pair of poles in the rotor also. You can do that with 4 magnets of alternating polarity, or with 8 magnets, but you need to have 4 pairs of adjacent magnets that are facing in the same direction (Just to be clear, if you check the polarity of each 8 magnets, you will have: N N S S N N S S).

Actually, induction motor and synchronous motor are the same things, just that the shafts are different, leading to different working principles. You are just modifying the induction motor into a synchronous motor. You could have just hooked up a synchronous motor to generate power straight away, or just use the BLDC motor with 3 phase rectifier, or a car alternator, it is the same thing, just differ in voltage rating and magnetization method (active or passive). To really use an induction motor as a generator, you need an active component such as VFD (Variable frequency driver) to control the speed, then you need to rotate the shaft faster than the idle speed, then load inversion will convert the energy back to the driver, this is how induction motor's regenerative braking works. It is more on active components and controller, not on the physical build.

the air space on the second motor generator by using the smaller rotor was a problem. you should make one with the minimal air gap you can. also could use some iron hoops around the magnets it may change things.

Just get a book on electric motors and start reading. You should not modify the motor, just connect it to AC voltage, then rotate the rotating motor by another motor. Then you generate electric energy that feeds back to the grid. They use this to correct the Power Factor too. So, try rotating it with say 4 stroke bicycle motor, or say with your bicycle. When Motor is rotating without you peddling you consume electricity, and when you peddle and you feel the resistance of the motor, you are generating electricity. One thing you realize is that the motor speed does not change and is constant, no mater if you peddle or not. To generate power off grid, get a Car generator an connect it to an off grid inverter, then you can get 110V or 220V power.

your fault was that you use the wrong pole count , it will eliminate the inducted current. It must have the same pole count like the Stator , i assume your first motor has a pole count of 2, your stator need a pole count of 2 also.

i has also modify a 800W asynchronmotor with 8 very tiny magnets and i got a voltage of 17 Volts and 3W Power

plz update your pole count, i believe there will be much more power reachable.

you can check your pole count with a DC voltage at the windings and a magnet in the middle of the Stator.

Actually...there is no physical difference between generators and motors, they are built the same. One works on the 'motor' principle, the other on Faraday's Law. HOWEVER, for most-efficient building, a 'generator' uses a 'permanent magnet field' and an alternating armature. This, in application, would be best-achieved by either a 'dedicated hot electromagnet coil' in the field, or arranging alternating permanent magnets in the field. As for 'simplicity', the permanent magnet field is the easiest to build at home (with minimal technical design)...the armature and brushes would stay in the current configuration. Then, simply spin the armature mechanically (another motor, an engine, a bicycle chain, etc.) and take the produced electricity from the brush wiring. This is NOT how 'commercial generator heads' are made...they use a wired electromagnet field as well, but for what you are trying to do here, it would be easier to simply build a 'permanent magnet field' and turn the armature.

I'm fairly new to this but I concur with many of the comments below.
1.) The distance between rotor and stator is too great.
2.) You are suffering a loss from friction and wobble
3.) Number of magnates, you can maintain the 2, 4, 8 orientation if you want but increase the time in those states by doing 2x8, 4x4, 8x2. For example shorthand 4x4 being 4S->4N->4S->4N
4.) Coverage, in this case a mix of 3.) and the length of the magnets. In your current setup it looks like only about 20% coverage

Anyways, great video loved to see you work, looking forward to checking out your other videos.
