The taliban was never actually a terrorist organization. They were students of hanafi jurisprudence who ended up being the buffer between Soviet expansionism and US hegemony. Yes they're conservative and definitely not pacifists, but they're not going to kill a stranger for no reason. Believe it or not, on the spectrum of islamic sectarianism, the taliban are closer to mystic Sufism than ISIS style takfirism.
