I bought a Behringer TD-3 out of curiosity, knowing nothing about how they function. I played around with it thinking it is just a weird noise box. But this video shows maybe I can make some actual music with it. I wish he would show how to download the software and hook up MIDI devices to it. I have a MIDI keyboard and a computer but no idea how to make them work together or where to get the software.

I'm going to ask here as well since I cant seem to find an answer anywhere else online. Would anything mess up the phone jack straight out of the box? I've tried both line out and phone out, but get sound from neither, despite fiddling with every dial possible.

Always loved the sound i got a Roland t8 for the drum machine but its got the bass line synth on it too and i didn't think it would have been as handy as it has iv been laying patterns with it plugged into the tascam and its made a nig difference to my dawless set up so fun i was going to get the behringer clone but i saw the t8 had the drums and bass for nearly the same price

Does anybody know if I could buy one of these and just play with it by plugging it into a speaker? I don't have a computer and computer computer, And I would just like to buy one just to play with it to make sounds and make little patterns. Is that possible or do I need a computer?

maybe worth to mention TD-3 has no ability to configure RX on off. Its always on. I do not prefer this, because starting an externel sequencer makes the td-3 running its internal pattern and to hear the external sequence you have to stop the td-3 manually in order to hear the external incomming notes.

The TD-3 was definitely the least authentic of the four. The TB and RE were almost identical, with the x0x deviating with certain settings, but staying reasonably close. The TD was bad in all the spaces where the TB was great. This is why a cheap knock off will always just be that. If price is a concern, there are better software emulations.

Any tips for a budget mixer .. i dont use computer and I have three machines and a korg mono that i wants to use to mix .. grateful for any pointers

Everyone in the comments acting like Behringer is the only music company that makes their products in China. Everyone does it now. Like it or not, unless you go with a boutique brand and pay 10x the price or more. All the new Roland stuff is made in China and I never hear anyone complain about it.

I wonder how difficult it might be to mod a TD-3 to sound more like the original. Still, it's quite close.

I just bought a tb303 I have tried countless sound comparisons over 10 year’s I bought the avalon bassline (I won’t sell) but I can hear this annoying distorted click sometimes I also own a tt303 and a tb3 and a td3. Originally it was money than it was the age of the unit itself it is 40 years or older. I guess what pushed me over the line was that the re 303 is a replica and I was considering it after many sound test’s I found it just would be a better investment to buy a tb303 and I found one at a second hand dealer for a good price. The truth is that the td3 is close if modded but it doesn’t hold it’s value neither does the tt303 or tb3 the Avalon bassline on the other hand is proof of the investment you can make in a quality instrument it is worth double it’s original price!

Man a great example of how great the 303 is, is Breathe Deeper (Tame Impala) towards the end of the track. Incredible beautiful it really shines when you have a fix pattern and really use the filter resonance to shape the sound. Thanks for the great vid <3

You mention the outtro music is sequenced via midi in the DAW. Did you twist the knobs during recording, or apply plugin filters etc, or is that all actually doable via midi data with this machine?

I was going to buy a TB-303 back when they were on sale new. The offer was to get one for £30 which sounded good. The guy at the shop was trying to offload them and told me Roland was dropping them. He offered me three of them for £50. Because they were dropping them I didn't even buy one!

It's crazy how close the Din Sync comes to the real TB-303. They are practically identical in all examples.

There's a trimpot for the filter inside the TD-3 that will make it sound more like the original.

I had 4 Tb-303s at the same time. it wasa a nightmare to program. I thing I remember they all sounded diferently unde de exact same setings. Tunning differences were the first notable issue. But from your test I do ahbe the impression that the TB has more detail and it is more subtle in the sounding and filter "articulation". But without that direct test I could not tell what is what. VERY USEFUL test. :)
