Sorry i know you guys are into it but a 17 minute thermal analysis and power consumption video for a game console is diving so far into the weeds that it kinda proves there is too much stuff on the internet

DF said on that one game that the ps5 ran a locked 60 fps but I seen it dip below 60 in the few seconds long gameplay they just showed. I guarantee if that was the series x they'd make it very clear the xbox wasn't a locked 60. They do it everytime with the xbox. Idc if it drops to 59 one time. They'll be sure to mention it. But not on the playstation.

I’d be curious to see the power consumption when they release Minecraft ray tracing on this console , all of the rt accelerator cores will be used in tandem with the cu’s and cpu cores , everything will be at full load , that’s why I suspect they include the 350w power unit , for those intensive ray tracing titles

i think like you said on your ps5 video, that the top of the xbox series x being that hot, means that cooling system is actually doing it's job, as the exhaust should be the hottest spot on the console.

as for the ui, i do prefer xbox's ui over ps5, that is not saying it is better, but let's face it you will gravitate towards the console you enjoy more. so playstation users will most likely prefer the playstation ui. and that is completely fine.

Could you do a network cable performance test? My series X is that bad it has to be returned for repair. Some 15% packet loss or worse whereas my One X has zero packet loss on the same equipment.
Console was fine at launch but has become unusable this last week.

So like my tv, xbox, cable, microwave, and heater is on, power tends to cut off. Having me to call my landlord to reset the breaker. So my big question is this. If I have a xbox series x. Will its power consumption be a issue for me. I would hate to buy a xbox series x only to find out my house can't run it. 😆

The thing is most certainly a heater! Its a lot spicier than the ps5.

people upset xbox hottest area is 50-60c when ps5's video memory is hitting 90c and higher

Lol that's a terrible way to do thermals.... You're taking the temps of a piece of plastic... The plastic does not care how hot it is... What i need to know is how hot is the memory ? How hot is the chip? Etcs. You do this with thermal couple not a thermal camera....

I saw a teardown where they showed the Series X power supply had an output rating of 12V/13.25A. Obviously different than your unit. Now, the sticker on this other unit's power supply was located on black plastic area. Do you remember if your unit had multiple stickers on the power supply? If not, what are your thoughts on what was shown in another video, showing what appears to be a different power supply?

My Series X is more efficient then yours DF. I messured 185 Watts on the exact same spot in Gears 5, on the rope at the beginning of chapter 1. Maybe Hovis methode kicks in 🤔 In FH4 i messured about 150 watts when driving around. 40 Watts in idle (Dashboard)

Energy cannot be created or destroyed. If the skin/exhaust temperature of the system is low, its not because its "well cooled", it's because it is insulating the heat. A well cooled machine would have a higher exhaust temperature because it would be more efficient at removing heat from the system

There is a fan involved, convection makes ZERO difference. Placing it on it's side, if anything would potentially make a difference, if the gap at the base was insufficient for airflow, rested on tall carpet.
Most likely no appreciable difference in regular operation.

How big is the power consumption of series s? 160 - 200 Watt still seems a lot if you think that he gamers play for several hours a day, regarding climate change.

After playing for hours on watch dogs legion with there ray tracing my temps hit 39C (same temp as my thread Ripper on my PC with water cooling) in a 68F room temp while my Xbox one X would hit 50C same game, also my series X literally makes no noise I have to stick my head right upto it to hear the Fan, I do feel the heat about 3-4Ft away tho, ether way this system runs way cooler-silent compared to Xbox one X. Loving the system

"Assuming that the power consumption goes directly into heat" Where does the power go if not to the heat? does the box dance or emit light? Power drawn by the silicon goes into the heat.

If it gets too hot putting it sideways, just rig another fan on the outside. $12 upgrade, no biggie.

either this 300 watt power consumption to play games in 4k with ray tracing or 750 to 1000w power supply to run a pc with rtx 3070 and comparable cpu .. you do the math .. not to mention the price
