They had to come out with a women’s unite type song b/c they had the black men unite sing on the Jason’s Lyric soundtrack and I was glad to have this song. Although I was young when it came out, I sooo appreciated it then and still til this day!! Whomever arranged it, did a great deal with the placement of the singers. But will, as I says then, where was Brandy??!!!! 😂

The first time I heard this song was as a little girl from New York Undercover from season 2 episode 5 Brotherhood. Today, I recently listened to this song completely and the themes of not standing for racism and propaganda. Black pride is beautiful. 💯

I was in college in the late 90s when thos song came out. When I heard the lyrics I felt so proud. I love both the rap and regular versions. My fav parts are the En Vogue, Aaliyah...rih Baby Girl❤, and Queen Latifah.😊

What's crazy I bet half of them even forgot they even participated in this song and video 😢 anyway I'm glad Aaliyah got her solo moment in this song..that's all I care about 💁 but this is an iconic moment in black female music history that they DO NOT acknowledge...this is the equivalent of the black male version of the "You Will Know" song, video and performance from 1994..I miss these times sooooo Fucking much!! Sitting here and knowing some of these people is know longer here breaks my Heart though 😢

Most people are only on-board when this is directed at people who oppress that don’t look at us, when oppressors look like us, most look the other way.
