love these concepts just wish they would make them more realistic and not saying cheeseball taglines like " dont fire till you see the whites of his eyes" yeah little tiny kids think thats cool but its lame dialog and makes the movie less entertaining for adults that want to see little toy soldiers doing stuff

People are always saying "ooooh you couldn't make blazing saddles today cos everyone's too sensetive" but this is one of those movies that I genuinely can't imagine being made post 9-11. I mean, can you imagine the reaction if you put out a movie like this now, where the stand-ins for American militarism are actually the Villains for once? One that satirically mocks the idealistic macho ideals regarding soldiers that're present even in children's toys? Especially considering how much pull the US military has in the film industry nowadays? Even in a fanciful movie like this - that's clearly aimed at an adolescent audience - I just don't see it happening.

Except 'Avatar' but don't even get me started on that.
