Last summer I played the symphonic dances and it was magical. After a week of nonstop playing this concluded the tour and everyone started crying straight after because of how emotional it was
ОтветитьThe Second Piano concerto is what drew me in to Rachmaninoff’s works, but the Sonata Op.36 and “The Bells” are currently my favorite works of his
ОтветитьThe beginning of the 2nd concerto symbolizes bells in Russia
ОтветитьI'm happy to report that Rachmaninoff is buried in a very nice cemetery in Valhalla, NY, with a very nice setup with flowers, bushes and trees around his plot. I wish I could upload pictures of it.
ОтветитьMan his cello sonata tho ❤
ОтветитьWtf do you mean why listen to the greatest of them all? 😂
To quote Horowitz: "He was a pianist, a composer and conductor. First class all three."
Mind blowing video. I am going to listen for sure. Really thankful to you.
ОтветитьYOOOOO
ОтветитьThanks... alway enjoy Rachmaninoff.... especially with a glimpse of Yuja Wang!
ОтветитьFantastic video. Great descriptions of the moods to be found in these great works. The second concerto is without equal.
ОтветитьI adore this man.
ОтветитьWould be epic if you could make one on Scriabine as well :]
Ответитьit is my impression, that besides Beethoven Rachmaninov offers a supreme depth in his music, that is relieving to the heart and can build up spiritualty, that is unmatched. I deeply love his works and I am forever grateful for it.
ОтветитьI'm currently drunk but I have to write it : Rachmaninoff was more than a genius, he had a piece of divine in his heart. As long as I will be alive I won't forget the beauty of his music. He was one of the greatest composers to ever live.
ОтветитьBecause he rachs?
ОтветитьThe Strange thing is I Played Rachmaninov's old 1929 Recording Reissued by His Master's Voice in 1956 in the Golden Treasury of Immortal Performances Record Number CSLP-517;and all the Rachmaninov Piano Concertos were Reissued in that Serious and were all Recorded Between Wednesday 10th and Saturday 13th of April 1929 and Saturday December December 20th 1941 and he died in 1943 and not 1942
ОтветитьSoul music♥️knew and expressed many varied forms if hip hop before it even existed. Long live Rachmaninoff
ОтветитьHis 3rd Piano Concerto is even better.
ОтветитьAt about 6min47, are you sure you got the right pic, looks a lot like Bob Dylan?
ОтветитьEvery night when I have time to play i reach for Rachmaninov…the Paganini Rhapsody, 2d Concerto, VR Polka, the other transcriptions, and the Etudes Tableaux.
ОтветитьRachmaninov is my favorite.
ОтветитьI would listen to the 3rd movement many many times as a young child. To this day, I tell people it's my favorite piece of classical music. The chord progression of the refrain alone is the most sublime and poinent I've ever heard. And he treats it differently each time.
ОтветитьHis music has grown with me much more than any modern musician. The rest of his catalog rewards exploration to: Symphonic Dances, Isle of the dead, even some Etudes etc...
ОтветитьBeyond compare. ❤
ОтветитьRock-me-maninoff. Dude was the bomb.
ОтветитьSo great the information learning. Excitement thrills Google you are the best. Many blessings to U all there.god bless these tubes.truly amazing and make. Life worth living.
ОтветитьThird one is better!
ОтветитьRatchmaninov is mediocre player, nothing special!!
ОтветитьCan you please do one on Alkan?
ОтветитьThis video made me teary. I'm still kind of choked up over it. I used to play double bass in orchestras and got the chance to play Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto years ago. I was just thrilled to have that opportunity. What a fabulous piece, something I've appreciated since childhood. As a teen, I discovered his Second Symphony. Unbelievable. And who can forget the Rapsody, especially as it was featured in the movie Somewhere in Time? The Prelude in C# minor was something I learned and performed in recital as a child. His music always affects me emotionally. Knowing all this background makes it even more touching. Thank you!
ОтветитьEric Carmen listened to him. Can't blame him. Breath taking Concerto
ОтветитьI had no idea he made a version of Jeff Mills' 'the Bells', gotta check it out
Ответитьbecause ur gay
ОтветитьIt’s crazy how Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff is more popular in the USA than in my Mother Russia
(No war!)
When I heard his second piano concerto for the first time I was in …😅ecstasy ! I was 16,and he was my favorite composer from then on! What a genius! What beautiful emotion he led us all to!l😊
ОтветитьAhw was all set to watch this clip. But "a word from our sponsor" ... what a shame.
ОтветитьFun fact. I only found this hidden gem of a composer because of Halo. In the books, the author says that doctor Halsey had music playing in the background of her laboratory. It was from this artist and I think it was his 2nd piano concerto. So, being curious I looked up that song and composer and have fallen in love with this guy and everything else he made.
ОтветитьCould I just like that again? Why can’t you give two thumbs up? That was sublime and educational
ОтветитьDamn Dude! This video was a masterpiece in and of itself….do you teach music appreciation as your profession?
ОтветитьLuscious? I have to agree. Rachmaninoff Concerto‘s are that and more.
ОтветитьI haven't gotten the chance to perform much from Rachmaninoff, but I've sung Bogoroditse Devo from the All Night Vigil. It's one of my favorite pieces of all time and I'm so lucky to have performed it
ОтветитьHe will get cancelled by the West because of the Ukraine war.
ОтветитьI agree !He is too noisy .
ОтветитьSuch dramatic, even virtuosic work. I speak of your presentation. Such an excellent lesson, sure to leave an impression on all, be they fans or the uninitiated. Thank you.
ОтветитьThank you for making this video it was interesting
Ответитьbro holy shit you are insane
ОтветитьRakhmaninoff has been with me all my life. My father loved and played prelude in c minor a lot, and the concerto no. 2 is my favorite peace of music, never get enough of this.
ОтветитьRachmaninoff is the guy who killed classic music. He made it too complicated to listen it as a normal guy. And also too good to make better. That's why modern classical music weird, because everyone wants to make it better than him but no-one can make it beautiful as him. That's why people stop listening this weird stuff and started to listen blues.
ОтветитьOne shouldn't. A queen to the max with tacky filer. Alot of palm greasing.
It was unappreciated cuz it is crap, from a crappy fairy tale.
