Synology is great but you really didn't explain why an iPhone user needs a Synology. I still can't backup directly from my phone to it, I don't believe. I thought you were goign to share a way this could be done. Right now I have to backup my phone to my computer --- which then gets backed up via Time Machine.

I will NEVER EVER pay Apple for cloud storage and I think it's even against commercial law to force you to do so with out allowing for an alternative to back up YOUR data on YOUR $1500 device

It's a great concept but unfortunately, it doesn't work as smoothly as advertised. From my half-a-year long experience, the backup of longer video files is often skipped without any notification and you have to check all your videos and move them manually. TimeMachine files often get corrupted, which also can easily pass under the radar, so you need to start backing up from scratch and in the meantime, you don't have any backup. Users blame Synology, Synology blames Apple, and Apple doesn't care...

Raid 6 is better why
Cause what happens if u have raid 5 and 1 drive failed and u put a new drive in then at that time another drive fails before the 1st drive has time to rebuild u just lost all ur data be smart about it

I did not see you have answered how can it replace iCLoud? Contact backup? How to restore the new iPhone if the old one died? Notes backup? Very misleading video title...

Apple charges 1 dollar a month for 50 gigs of cloud space lol. It’s 12 dollars a year. So no it would be stupid to buy hardware to do and have to keep it running when I pay 1 dollar a month.

I have multiple Synology devices and I love these but this video is useless another marketing pitch. There is nothing here about how to backup Iphone to Synology.

The irony is that I'm currently struggling to find a seamless way to backup my iPhone to my Synology NAS. iTunes doesn't allow you to pick a location to backup so you have to plug in, find the backup and move the files to the Synology.

I pay for iCloud but it t cannot compare to a NAS. iCloud tops out at 2TB and costs $120/yr. That's only enough for my 4yr old MacBook Pro. But I have 3 iPhones 3 iPads, two more Macs a couple PCs. My Synology has plenty of redundant space plus a ton of other features such as Plex.

Great video. We are running 3 DS1621+ at our school. They all run amazing easy.
