SMH: all you ppl who think the M2 Air is "lighter & easier to carry" the M2 air is 3.3 lbs vs 3.5 for the 14" pro. That's only point .2 lbs. difference. Basically SAME! SMH

Guys help me out,im thinking of buying a Mac and i have two options atm,should i get the M1 2020 512gb and 16gb ram or the M2 2022 256 gb and 8gb ram,both are at the same price of around €1150(cheapest in my country i could find for both)

Luke, please tell me, do you have any dents/pits/micro-holes on you display? I had some on my MacBook Pro 14 (2021) after about 6 months of use. I did recently got my display replaced under warranty. I read that many people experience this despite being so protective with the device and some even had the same thing happened on the replaced display too. Even if not advised, I'm considering putting a film screen protector. What do you think? Thank you!

I have the M2 air and I’m super happy with it.
Battery lasts way longer than on my 14 M1 Pro which I don’t even use anymore.
There’s literally nothing the M1 pro can do that the M2 can’t - other than couple more frames and export times.
But for that I have a PC.

Currently, on the Australian Apple Website, a 15” M2 MacBook Air (New) and a 16” M1 Pro MacBook Pro (Refurbished), both with 16gb Ram and 512 SSD, are the same price. I think this would make an interesting comparison video for people looking for a bigger screen laptop.

What annoys me is that you can’t get a thin MacBook which isn’t overpowered and hasn’t got a fan with the same display quality. I would pick the Air over the Pro if it had the same display.

I have the m2 Air midnight 512 and the 16 m2 pro 16.. I loved my 16 1tb ssd but it is heavy as hell for school.. so I got the air and now my 16 is docked on a monitor 98% of the time.. and my air is so good.. speaker quality isn’t the best compared to the 16 but it’s ok

As I cycle to work every day, then the decision is clear - portability trumps all. The only thing I have to compromise on is the lack of support for dual monitors, but there is a workaround. I do need to have the 16 GB and 512ssd, which makes it very expensive. But it's the price to pay for performance plus portability.

I went for an OpenBox macbookpro 14” it was €350,- cheaper then a air m2 with same memory and ssd. Great machine and i love the extra tb port!
Only missing the touchbar a little bit… used it a lot in pages, logic and final cut.

If I'm spending $1600+ on a laptop IT BETTER be able to be a full on desktop replacement. This certainly is not. It has no dedicated graphics card, poor specs overall for the price, and can't fully replace a shit ton of desktops. That's me though. I like the M series laptops, but I ain't dumb enough to fall for bad pricing for the specs. If you're going base model MBA then you got some great price options, but if you want anything more in line with modern specs on things outside of the CPU that gets talked about, but honestly most people don't even push at all anyhow you will get ripped off. They purposefully only put the base models on sale.

I went refurb and got the proper specs for the price instead. Let someone else get burnt on that.

Have both. One personal and one for work.

The Air is so nice to commute and travel with.

But the Pro is a beast on hardware and is definitely worth the extra money if you can justify the weight.

Me who loves high refresh rate and is with a very clear decision: "Interesting video, maybe this will help" watches the whole thing

I think the 14 inch is definitively a better deal that a comparable price point.

if they made the m2 air with a miniled screen I would buy one. I have a custom windows desktop I built for really heavy tasks and a big windows gaming laptop. I just want a lightweight laptop with insane battery life to look at email and watch movies. currently using an m1 ipad pro 12.9 for this use case but wouldnt mind getting an air if it had miniled

M1 air is the best value MacBook of all time.

The M1 Pro is the best step up (big spec boost in every area, but considerably more expensive)

as an ex apple macos technician and a lover of macbooks i can safely say that the 14 inch m1 pro is the best mac i have ever owned. PS: absolutely love your videos they are very soothing.

I like how you mentioned the importance of the display, something you always look at. That's why I got the 14-inch Pro. 120hz and the quality of the 14-screen help reduce eye strain for sure. The nicer speakers are also an added bonus.

It was very hard for me to choose between these two, but I ended up picking a refurbished 14´ base model, which cost me just a little bit more than a M2 Air with 16GB o RAM and 512 of storage. I think that with the actual prices it's very hard to justify the M2 Air over the M1 Pro.

Thanks for the video! I'm not sure what to do because I will use it for everyday tasks but also for some video editing about family trips. I guess I need a good performer in terms of RAM. I am not sure that I need more than 256 Gb of space as I do have some external disks. I am wondering if I should buy the Air M2 with 16Gb/256Gb, or the M1 Pro with 16Gb/512Gb. Because I understand that the 256Gb SSD on the MacBook Air M2 is slower (?) And here in Switzerland I have a price difference of 300 Swiss Francs between both models, and it's pretty important. What's your advices ?

I got both the M2 Air and the 16 inch M1 Pro. The 16 is my main workstation while the air is the travel/mobility laptop. Very expensive operation overall (about €4000) but I feel it's worth is as an investment for my productivity

Last year I replaced my 2013 MacBook Pro with an M1 iPad Pro. I bought into the hype and thought that it would be a suitable replacement for my Mac. Spoiler alert: no matter what anyone tells you-- at this writing-- iPadOS is not ready for prime time as a productivity device. It's great for consumption though. Two days ago, I bought a well spec'd M2 MacBook Air. Though it's been a short period of time, I can say with complete certainty that this is probably the bast laptop I've ever owned. The form factor, the battery life, the weight.... EVERYTHING about it is exactly what I wanted. I hemmed and hawed about getting the (at this date just released) M2 MBP, but after reminding myself that I have an iMac for heavier lifting I went for the Air. Don't get hung up on specs! Luke is right in the video when he tells people to be honest with themselves about what they need the machine for. I was tempted to go for the Pro 'cause I'm a Mac geek. It would have been a mistake. Interestingly, I now look at my iPad Pro with contempt.

Was able to get a open box brand new MacBook Air m2 512gb at best buy for 1207.00 couldn’t beat that

so, I bought the MacBook Air in the Uk for £1949! The base model not enough ram, I ended up with the 16GB ram 1tb ssd drive as they ran out of 512, took it back and got the M1 at £1735 on sale. Better option at those prices. Macbook M1, better screen, better sound, better cam, no notch, faster graphics, more ports, sometimes the obvious choice is just that, I really like the air though for the portability and size however not for more than £1500! And 14” is still very compact.

Really confusing that the laptops switch sides in the screen showcase B-roll and then in the a-roll shots. I was thinking „damn the blacks on the right screen are nice“ and then when you are talking you show the macbook air on the right and at first i was confused.

I think I'm gonna go with the m1 pro due to the just the fact that the base comes with 16gb ram and 512gb storage (which should be the standard for todays computers). All the other features become like this sweet bonus. The weight is literally the main appeal to the air, I just wish apple made the ram/storage better price to value.

I need to replace my old MacBook Pro 15 inch Retina late 2013 - I love the M2 MBA form factor but the no fan / heating concerns me + as I am planning to keep this new laptop for many years .. I guess the Pro M1 14 inch could be the best choice.
