It's sad how perfumery is a dying craft and that it's almost exclusive to big brands. In reality perfume isn't at all expensive to make and a normal profit margin would make them quite affordable. Whenever you're buying one of the designer brands you're mostly paying for their marketing expenses which include multimillion dollar contracts with celebrities (e.g. Johnny Depp recently made a 20 million dollar contract with Dior just to be the face of Sauvage). Not to mention these brands don't care too much about what the perfume is made out of as long as it's allergy free. Good perfumer will pick fine quality oils that will last longer, be better for your skin and make the perfume richer
