I’d like to add, as someone who has gotten a 5 in human geo, AP world, and APUSH, a huge amount of doing well in history is being good at educated guests. You’re not going to remember every specific detail about every person and event, but if you know vaguely what was going on around a certain time, you can pretty accurately figure out the answer to a lot of questions

Yes. Recently did an indigenous history unit (in Australia) and it was like. Barely matters if you remember dates. Just causes, significance and context.

This is actually so true. My teacher literally gave me an exam question to which it asks "When did this president die" at the exact date. The year, the month and the number date. It didn't usually gave me an answer if it's monday or smthin. Good thing it's a multiple choice.
