Here is a bit of truth .Alexander fought Porus who by definition ,wasnt a king but a local chieftain.And when he realized that the next in line was the Nanda empire (which by definition was a full fledged kingdom) ,so youre fighting an empire with vast experience in battle tactics,vast resources ,better weapons and ofc experienced tacticians.He was ofc scared ,why?His loss was guaranteed so he decided to end his conquest there(ofc legacy is a thing,since people remeber the battle you lost).But in order to hide this ,Greek historians(who often over inflated the achievements of their kings)decided to concoct a story to make him into a noble hero.We all know how underhanded West was in downplaying Asian history in general, and often showcasing themselves as people who have carried humanity on their shoulders.
