So is a super app any different than an operating system then? We basically have a few super apps on the west as well such as Apple, Windows and Linux and that's basically it

No nation in their right mind would ever even consider letting some "Super app" made by HIM take a dominant role within their societies.

To make X a superapp, Elon should first improve the core functionality of the app and do it well. In fact, he should do it so well that he should pour all his resources into improving X and just forget about making a superapp, that's how you should compete WeChat.

There's no super app in Nepal. The map highlights in your intro doesn't make sense. The only people who use WeChat in Nepal are the Chinese tourists themselves. However, some business owners cattered towards Chinese tourists do accept WeChat.

The super app concept works in China because they have State-owned enterprises where the CCP/government has its own members on the boards of big companies that invest in and buy shares of companies like TenCent which created WeChat. In other words, the CCP literally has its hands on the scale to ensure some companies like TenCent thrive because it's in the CCP's financial and political interests to have companies that cooperate with them thrive. While the CCP does not own a majority of TenCent shares, it owns enough to have CCP members monitor TenCent, sit on its board, and ensure it complies with the state's security organizations to spy on Chinese citizens.

In the US, the government barely regulates apps and certainly does not own a stake in app developers. Which means that we have a lot of different choices of apps because they are allowed to compete, instead of one app being given preference due to governmental interference. This is a GOOD thing because some companies create apps that are good for one thing, but not necessarily everything. While it's less convenient for end users, it also means one app developer does not have infinite leverage to impact your life if the developer becomes a bad faith actor.

Super app or in another words operating system and mini-programs in other words apps. Yeah, no, thanks, I already have one of these in my phone. No reason to have another to run apps within apps.

Elon don’t realize that bc of HIMSELF, mass majority do not trust anything he helms to be the one all be all solution to everything. He’s effectively destroyed twitter in less than a year and made it lose half its value.
