Video info:
On our second stop on our tour of the historical and archaeological sites of Turkey we visit the ancient necropolis of Sogmatar. With a history dating back several thousand years, this ancient archaeological site has seen the occupations of the Romans, Mesopotamians and, as we will see from its unexplored hill structure in the center, potentially civilizations that date back much, much further.
Together we will dive into long lost burial chambers, discover ancient inscriptions in languages lost to time and immerse ourselves in the mystery of Sogmatar.

Gotta agree with these comments the history channel should be giving people like you shows. They are sad lately ever since ancient aliens spread tons of misinformation about the sumerian language.

I think there is some error in info about the Jupiter temple and an earthquake. 600 BC is hundreds of years before the Romans got out of the Italian peninsula.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the shelves in the tomb are the morturies attached to burial sites in Egypt. They have platforms with channels cut into, theyre for draining bodily fluids during body preparation. It wouldnt be a long stretch to imagine these may have had a similar purpose. They clearly preserved their dead in some way, even if it was by draining the bodies to prevent explosive decomposition.

I am not use to people being able to just climb into places like that, the few I have gotten to see in the US have been roped/blocked off, you are only able to see them from a distance. This whole series has reinforced my desire to get out of the US and see the rest of the world....if life keeps going the way it is that will be very soon. (Found you yesterday and have been enjoying your videos so much, you are getting me interested in history again)

Could the interior of the soot lined tombs have been burnt to weaken the stone and make it easier to carve out? If i remember correctly, stone becomes brittle when heated, so it would it make sense for the least developed or the unfinished tomb to have the most soot.

As far as I know, the majority of scholars believe Moses wasn’t real, but just a fictional character, to make Israelites feel like they overcame the rule of Egypt. Instead of the real fact that the pharaoh just decided to no longer rule over Canaan.

We do know as to whether or not Moses dug that well: he did not. It is now generally accepted among biblical scholars that use the historical critical method (the non-fundamentalist types) that all those mentioned in the 1st 5 books of the bible are fictional characters. See "The Atheist's Guide to the Old Testament" by Dr. Joshua Bowen or see him on line (digital Hammurabi).

If there is Gobekli and Karahan tepe like sites, then as much as i stray away from Hancock's various theories, he is also not wrong about many other civilizations that are waiting to be found by us, some as old as he claims, some maybe even older, some maybe less advanced some maybe more advanced than those who built the sites around Turkey. We cannot throw out just about every idea that Hancock has put out there
