I don’t have an issue drawing hands, I quite like them. But, you can always improve. My biggest problem (for now) is drawing them in perspective. You, sir, are inspiring and skilled and it’s so cool to see someone who notices the same things as me. I always point out to random family members, or my wife, how the shape of a person’s hand folds or the shape of someone’s eyes. Just stuff like that. So it’s neat to see someone else do the same. But you know what? It’s probably super common among artists, in general.

You broke my brain! I had that moment of confusion and clarity all at once. Like when Dr. Strange got punched out of his body for the first time. I never connected that the top crease of the palm is NOT opposite of the knuckles. No wonder my hands look so messed up!

Hi great video I was just wondering about the 3d plane. I could tell that you're using Blender and I'm using that program to follow along but for some reason when I grab the edge loop it looks more triangular then round. Did you use a modifier for that or no?

Keep in mind scenes like that are often rotoscoped, or at least heavily influenced from actual footage of hand movements. Its much easier to just render a cartoon version of hands moving over real hands, rather than sit there and having to imagine and render all of it out of thin air.

Awesome explanation, I’m used to drawing Anthro characters for animations and animatics, so drawing purely hands is always kinda interesting for me. This was explained really well, and I love the correlation with the Klaus explanation

This actually helped so much, i love drawing hands a lot but i started to see some issues in them. The major issue was the absence of the first dorsal interosseous and that automatically fixed my art, everything in this guide was incredibly helpful!
