Skoda Octavia vRS review - better than a Golf GTI?

We're quite liking the new Octavia vRS, but what do you think - would you choose it over the VW Golf GTI or Ford Focus ST? VOTE with a LIKE in the comments we've posted below!

looks like fun in the rain, a golf gti is not fun in the rain.

sucks its a VAG,otherwise it would've been something that i would've loved to buy

This is probably worst RS car I've ever seen. It have horrible sound, slow and boring engine. Quality of interier is realy bad + seats feel cheap. And if you want new technologies, like smart cruise control, you need to pay more for it. And the regular price is big. At least its reliable and practical family car...

Matt you always hated this car from the start of this review. Most ppl knew this but we know you are a VW GTI FAN BOY.. just check out lots of your videos. This car has been car of the year in plenty of places. Ps I love your drag races 🎉

Does it have electric folding mirrors standard

It's not the tyres you can smell, with a slight wheels pin, don't be silly.
Probably the clutches in the Dsg gearbox if anything, but with only 2 standing starts I find that hard to believe.

now how is this a HATCHBACK???

Can someone tell me, are the wheels spinning like that from launch because of the conditions or is it because of something related to the car itself?

Kinda getting on my nerves now. Im living in germany a long time now and germans dont really drive alot of german cars anymore. They drive Japanese.Compared to 15 years ago its like day and night. Why...because they aren't reliable or a benchmark so why do we the UK continue to make it a benchmark? Also problems in germany are rectified under a warranty you don't get in the uk...fun fact

It’s actually a lot easier to turn off the traction control, pressing the set button next to the driving mode button, brings it up straight with other things

I hope Volkswagen have improved the gearboxes they use in the Octavia and the Golf. Our Octavia needed a new one after two and a half years of perfectly ordinary use.

There is a tiny acrylic clip attached on the windscreen (stretching out from the A pillar.But what for? Thx a lot.

U can engage Sport mode with 1 touch of a gear lever. D/S moves between Comfort and Sport instantly.

Do front and rear parking sensors come standard on it

I have the 2018 version and they should have kept the gear stick for the automatic they had in the 2018 version instead of putting that silly plastic bit in, VRs is great tho well worth it

great vid, Matt, but... this is not vRS, or VRS or Vrs or whatever.. It's Skoda RS! This is not a letter V, its only design ;)

It's not really my sort of car, but just skimming the Skoda website it unfortunately doesn't let you configure actual cars, only flick through starting prices, trims and engine types , but if I'm reading it right is it only available as a bloody automatic?!

That's not a good thing for any car but certainly not for a model that's supposed to be sporty!! 😯😂😀🤘

I'm sorry but the Ovtavia is definitely a brilliant vehicle. I prefer it over the GTI. I would go as far and say its better than a GTI. It's a special car. Only reason VW don't make it in an AWD petrol is because people would buy it over the Golf R in my opinion
