Trading Futures Is Better Than Options For Day Trading (Options vs Futures)

Damn you really convinced me to get into futures with this video. All the cons that I deal with doing options seemed to have a solution with futures. Let me go try and do both!

Nice vid, ty! I'm an options day trader and have been thinking about expanding into futures lately lol. Quick question, how do you calculate % pnl per trade? For option contracts it's so easily calculable: (exit price - enter price)/enter price of contracts, but this formula doesn't translate over directly since there are margin and ticks/point values.

just opened my account on tradovate , since i mainly trade spy and qqq gave futures a shot really liking it. but started with micros eventually will move up to minis.

There are days when /ES futures works great mainly on trending days continuous up or down all day works for me. For options I trade SPX 0DTE equal wing butterflies on balancing days, when one time framing ends after the first 3 to 4 TPO's on market profile by watching that days options chain: specifically the developing highest volume, the average call and put open interest, calculated gamma holding high on both the call and put side with the developing highest volume. Some days I walk away, which is sometimes best trade.

I’m learning futures trading from an older gentleman that’s been trading for 40 years. And futures trading is SOOO EASY to understand, make money, set profit and loss margins. You won’t really make big money unless you take big risks but couple hundred dollars here and there is definitely possible with a low risk

Lots of energy Brad. Thx for all the info. My question is about the stop loss. If the mkt moves hard and fast will the stop loss 100% be honored? A stock stop loss is NOT a legal contract, only an options contract is legal and binding?

Brad, I went to futures 6 months ago, but I didnt like the commission fees they ate most of my profits. So I started trading the 3x index funds, like SPXL or TQQQ or you can find 2X indexes, TNA, for gold I used NUGT and Crude I used UCO or GUSH. The main disadvantage with 3x trading ETFs is you dont get the trading options beyond the after hours expiration times, but I hardly ever keep them overnight. That said I can still trade 2 hours pre or post market. The 3X indexes take more capital and you need an account with 25K funded so you dont get called out for margins, or suspensions for buying and selling the same entity the same day, etc. But I recommend using 3X indexes rather than futures if you can keep your account balance above 25K you wont see those huge commission fees with futures. And remember, as a basic rule I hardly ever keep the trade beyond after hours trading.

I am options trader in Indian Markets and believe me in India there is huge crage of options trading. I am also fan of options

I got this video on my recomendations - maybe it's a bit late . I have never understood why people trade options . So many moving parts - futures are simple and straigthforward - I started trading forex in 2006 and in a matter of weeks I switched to futures (ES) back in the day where lisening to the trading floor and pivot poinst is all you needed. It's 2023 and I trade just for fun. Cogrtas my man , you did the rigth choice.

How does trading futures compare to trading FOREX? It sounds like a lot of the advantages you're mentioning are things I've thought about the FOREX market.

Nice video, kind of confusing at the end when you showed the charts, like you may have been rushing.

6 years struggling with option!!!! I hate it!!! The first 4 years my broker won't have stop loss for my trades ..you can imagine the tragedy!!! Finally my broker have brackets but even having them try to contain contract price inside it's a challenge especially when the trade changes direction and just need to go back 50% of the way to wipe all the gains.... I definitely i will try futures this year....

I'm interested in Futures, but the index Futures are a mystery to me. I don't get what the actual market is. It just seems like gambling to me.

This is the video I needed. I've come to the same conclusion about futures. Eighty percent of the moves happen overnight in futures market. The regular market hours are usually window dressing. And you're right, the charts are easier to trade.

After each trade, should I wait like 2 days before cash settlement ?

I use the 9 EMA and the 4 EMA, generally when the 4 crosses the 9 it is an indication of trend change. I mainly only use it on the 5 min.

Why trade futures when you can trade TQQQ or SQQQ cheaper in commission too

Yeah I think I'm done with options! SPY has been ripping me a new one and theta will eat you alive even if the price is where you bought it at.
