Ireland has good potential especially in the batting form the likes of long time opener Stirling & latest middle order batsman Tector , they are T-20 players as well. Unfortunately no Irish player got a chance to play in IPL as a full timer, since its inception. For once franchisers pick players from Netherlands, Nepal Afghanistan but No Irish. They wasted a great Irish legend Kevin O'brien & Paul Stirling when Ireland was in their prime in 2011-12. Even after getting Test status in 2017 these talented player was ignored, they were inconsistent at times in ODi cricket, but not so in T-20. Now its high time after 11 long years, the new franchises could pick any one or two Irish player like Stirling or Tector. Kevin O'brien is retired though. Stirling created history recently became 1st Irish player to surpass 5,000 runs & 2,600 runs in ODI's & T20's.

Congratulations Ireland; well played. It's sad in a way that WI are losing to countries like Ireland. I was born in England in the 1950s. Our heroes as kids were the WI teams of the 60s. I had the names of the whole team written on my bat when I was about ten years old, names like Sobers, Gibbs, Hall, Griffith, Kanhai etc. Then we watched the WI through the last decades of the 20th century with their brilliant fast bowlers and top flight batsmen. As I say, it's painful to see them lose to Ireland even though Ireland now have test status.
