I disagree. They don't speak English in Bollywood-land. Their telemarketers ring me all the time and I have trouble understanding them. I speak English so they can't be.

Ы это не дифтонг как буквы "Е, Ю, Я, Ё". Гласные могут произноситься по разному, более мягко или твёрдо. Например как в словах "mAn" и "mEn". Точно так-же и с буквами "И" и "Ы". Ы произносится как буква И, просто более твёрдо и глубоко. И никаких УЙ там нет.
