Permanent solid black Horizontal lines isn't a bad tcon board that issue is a Bad LCD screen. Vertical lines lllll usually bad tcon board or tcon cable connections.
ОтветитьNice and simple instructions without a long drawn out story. Good job!

I have a 2014 Samsung Plasma TV (PN51F5500) that has developed a one pixel wide solid steady green vertical line that goes from top to bottom on the right side of my screen. It does not flicker and it's there no matter the input, coax, hdmi, etc.
I've done a bunch of troubleshooting from voltage checks, to putting pressure or wiggling on the screen flex cables, to inspecting and cleaning board to board ribbon cables, and nothing shows problems or makes any difference to the screen, except for one thing.
When it comes to the two ribbon cables that go from the tcon board to the bottom buffer boards, if I disconnect the left side ribbon cable, so only the right side of the screen gets image, then the vertical line becomes a solid steady blue instead of green. Then when I reconnect the left cable and disconnect the right cable, so only the left side of the screen has image, instead of it being a flawless picture, it has four vertical lines in the picture. Three of those lines are only one pixel wide, and the fourth looks to be two or three pixels wide. The wider line is a purply/black color, two are black, and one is green. Those four vertical lines are closer to the center of the screen and are all spaced about an inch or two apart, but are not equally spaced.
When I reconnect the right cable (so both tcon ribbon cables are connected), everything goes back to as it was before disconnecting any cables, with the screen being flawless except for that green vertical line on the right side of the screen.
I should also mention that about a week ago the tv did a firmware update (2230->2240). I didn't notice any problems between then and now, other than maybe what I would call a bit of slow motion here and there when specifically playing PS4 games, but that very well may be due to just the console and not the tv. I did speak to Samsung about this and they say there's no problem with the firmware and that's definitely not the problem. They also confirmed that the firmware can only be updated and never reverted for some reason.
If I assumed there's not possibly a bug in the updated firmware, then it would seem to me that the likely cause is either tied to the screen itself (including the IC chips on the directly soldered flex cables) or some fault with the main processor board (because the tcon is built into it on this tv). If it were the processor board, then it would cover both a potential hardware or firmware problem with it. The processor board is still costly enough that I can't just wing it and hope it works, but if I can be relatively sure that's the problem, if it is, I will spend the money to keep the plasma going.
I'm curious as to what you think? I know a solid steady colored line typically means a screen issue, but I can get the line color to change by disconnecting one ribbon cable, plus the opposite side of the screen shows lines as well with the other ribbon cable disconnected. It makes me question whether or not it is the screen is actually the problem. Hopefully your experience can give me better guidance as to how to move forward.
I took one of those ribbon cable's off of the tcon board and the lines went away but theres no picture and only backlight is displaying. Does that mean I replace the board?
ОтветитьNo too complicated for normal user
ОтветитьI have a shape LC-70SQ15U 3D TV. I JUST GOT ONE SINGLE YELLOW DOTTED LINE GOING DOWN MY TV.

ОтветитьFor some reason my SONY KDL- 40V4000 started displaying flickering white or grey or semi-transparent horizontal lines across the whole of the screen. They disappear (but when they do there is a shimmering in the background with some loss of colour, and reappear after a short while with return to fuller colour (over seconds not minutes). The TV displayed a notice saying 1080i which I never usually see. So I guessed that changing it in the Settings/General Settings/Video /Resolution to 1080p might help. And it did! The mystery is why it switched to 1080i in the first place and why the option of choosing both resolutions is there, but hey-ho. My next problem is why my JVC TH-D337B bluetooth soundbar does not work v'a the Amazon basics optical cable. IThe soundbar works OK with my desktop computer via bluetooth; but why is there no option to disable the TV's AUDIO (it flashed up 'incompatible audio Device today but never stated that before. There is just S/PDIF> Stereo/Dolby Digital options.

ОтветитьI have a 65 sanyo that's a few years old. The screen has two permanent red thin vertical lines. But they are in front of the picture. Meaning if I'm watching it the lines go over the picture not behind. Could this be the same problem. The lines are about 1" a part. It is a 4k smart tv by sanyo. Thanks in advance
ОтветитьSo it's a permanent line it's a faulty panel. Is there a quick fix for that or we have to inevitably get an entire new panel to replace it?
ОтветитьWow this is what they charge people 300 bucks for!?

ОтветитьGreat video !! I have a solid very thin line across the television but I don’t want to spend 500$ on a new television so I’ve been dealing with the thin line but out of no where a bunch of colored line went across the television almost a foot thick but then go away but eventually come back and I’ve watched videos with people using tape or just cleaning I didn’t know you could purchase a chip board and replace it that easy , I will go back and look up the company you get them from does it matter the make of the television? Do they sell them for all brands
