The explanation is too mechanistic. After watching the video ask yourself, do I really understand the implications of what was said or I just think that I do? If we borrow some philosophy from Lean, there are few important principles: 1. Relevance (Outside-in thinking), 2. Flow (Delivery, Inside-out thinking) and 3. Respect for People (Cascaded business structure that nurtures the Flow and to manage the "reverse flow" i.e. to escalate management of change, Transparency within the structure so everybody can "read the game", Clarity as in breaking down the work to manageable pieces to ensure non-disruption and good mental health - sense of finishing, "Design by contract" i.e. system that lets you know when something is broken, and so on). Reflection is good, pre-mortem is better. If still unconvinced, try to organise the 12 principles into a meaningful flow i.e. which principle leads to another/why?, which one is generic/abstract vs effective/actionable, how would you measure i.e. know you are effective, what is your level of "maturity/excellence" in regards to different principles, etc. In other words, do not think from an individual point of view, it is self-defeating - all your work will be on the critical path, you need to think from the system's point of view i.e. plenty of capacity, capabilities, confidence, has reliable internal systems, has no internal constraints, is well connected, and so on. Finally, you need to abandon the Management Mindset and adopt the Leadership Mindset, the two are not some complementary aspects (as promoted by the Management Mindset) but two fundamentally different paradigms.
