How to PIPE-FITTING Basics

The reason this is called basics is because a real bad ass pipe fitter would have only used a spacer, level and maybe... a screwdriver. A mf gyatdaym hand would have just used two hands and an eyeball ol son!!!

Nice prep for that weld neck plus many fitters don’t even bother cleaning off the pipe lacquer on the inside for the root

Good video, but I haven't met many welders that prefer a 5/32 gap. That's pretty big, especially for a knife-edge bevel

I might be looking to get into pipe fitting soon. Might be a bit of manual labor but doesn't look too hard to understand. Heck I can move heavy things no problem and I am not dumb too boot so maybe I can do this...lol.

When you add the 1/8” weld gap to each port does that affect the overall length? Or do you take that away during the cutting of the pipe?

Very interesting video, it has been two years that I entered the quality area and I am working directly in the field in the manufacture of storage tanks according to API-650 and for piping according to N-115 (Petrobras Standard), and I confess that I still have a certain difficulty regarding the rotation of the flange when it is different from 90º. A big hug, and I am always following you from Brazil.

After everything is fitted up, would the Pipe-fitter actually take the pipe and install the pipe where it needs to be located on whatever it is you are working on?
