What do you think about bowl gouge vs spindle gouge? Is there much of a difference when turning spindles? Is it a matter of what feels best?

I like the vase shape. Can these vases hold water to keep a flower fresh? If not, is there a finish that would be waterproof? When you turn a project from a branch, is the wood aged and dry, or do you turn wet wood? Thanks, Jay
