I wanna leave a extra note down here: The ONLY time I have had repeated success with the AMD GPU was on an Arch based system installing the pro drivers from the AUR.

I tried everything. and nothing works on Ubuntu 22.04. I have the Studio version of Davinci and am very disappointed. On the Pop OS website I read that 'For AMD GPUs, the proprietary AMDGPU-PRO driver that Resolve depends on does not support the newer kernel version that Pop!_OS includes.)' The closest I came to success was after installing mesa opencl. The program detects the video card and starts the program, but when I turn on playback nothing happens. The timeline does not move, and no media format works. i.e. none. mp4, mov, jpg, png, mp3, wav

for anyone doing this now, idk what its like on other distros but on arch you dont need to run the progl script. it just works out of the box with the amd drivers. on first launch i got a white box which i assume is the setup screen, this didnt work for me but once i killed that and opened it again it worked perfectly.

I feel stupid reading all the comments of people knowing what he’s talking about. I don’t get how Linux works and I aspecially have no clue what he is talking about because of all the complicated words with no explanation :( just wanna use a good video editor and not the crappy kdenlive

I have on GARUDA LINUX ( ARCHLINUX DISTRO) system with RX 580 GPU, but i have a problem, for example, following your video guide, when I try, under terminal, to put progl /opt/resolve/bin/resolve, I received this message: /usr/bin/progl: riga 30: 57673 Errore di segmentazione (core dump creato) "$@", Do you have any idea? thank you very much

Hey everyone. So I followed the tutorial got davinci resolve installed. however I've been having this issue where the video is just like a black screen. I heard that mp4 does not work on Davinci resolve linux so I converted my files to mov format bu the issuse persisted. I'm using endevour OS with an amd graphics card and so in theory everything should be fine. Would really appreciate some help on this one!

Davinci resolve 18 is not working correctly on ubuntu 22. I am having some issues with no video preview, no audio in the timeline and no close, minimize buttons. I didn't have such issues on windows 10 and 11. I just want to simply edit my video and can not do it quickly which is kinda sad.

Here is solution for Intel UHD(Like so others can find it)
I had this problem with Intel UHD 620 on Manjaro Linux.

I fixed it by installing OpenCL Drivers. Here is a command for Arch Linux :

sudo pacman -Suy intel-compute-runtime

The deb script no longer works. Could you make a tutorial on how to install the new version on Ubuntu please?

For ones that can't access /user in terminal just go to your files manager and find /user and open from terminal there and you should be fine.

Can someone out there help me with this? I am using an Ubuntu-based distro (Zorin OS) and installed Resolve multiple times - no problem - however, I am unable to launch it because I keep getting the "Unsupported GPU Mode" Error because resolve does not recognize my GPU is actually capable of using OpenGL - if you know anything about this please help me.
I have been trying to make this work on and off for over a year now and just cant quite get it to work.
I am using an AMD GPU and have followed every tutorial I could find - till now to no avail - help would be very very much appreciated!

Almost a year later since this video was released, and this still works. Resolve v18, Manjaro Cinnamon 22.0.0, RDNA2 GPU, worked beautifully :)

Still not working on Arch Linux, it's been a year I tried to install it either from AUR packages (broken with missing dependencies) or via the github clone and then using command make -si, worked fined, I use install and post install script, but still missing dependencies or the depencies is not at the right version ect...

It sucks DaVinci Resolve Team doesn't definitely fix thoses packages for GNU/Linux community. Won't buy the Studio version if it can't work

Amazing video! It got me up to speed on manjaro with an AMD 5950x and a AMD 6950XT. Faster performance than my 3090ti running on fedora. My only be road block with the AMD GPU is its not looking like i can export out h264 or h265 from resolve studio? Are you dealing with this as well? Just want to make sure I am not doing something wrong. With the 3090TI, I had all h264 and h265 options available. If this is the case for AMD, what is your workflow? Thanks again!
