Started lofting heaving weights dumbells and starting to have neck problems. Should i stop and start lifting lighter ones instead? To avoid neck problems

I ve been havin this kinds of problems, but little bit different one..
Mine is that as I fall asleep, my neck is being suddenly pulled backwards by itself once or twice..This happens alot..Can u tell the reason please help??
