Laser is nice and innovative. The question is how much it costs to build such a system. Although the interception is cheap. But the system is expensive and not always portable and affected by the weather. If it's cloudy it doesn't work. And another question. How long from the moment of purchase the target is to be eliminated. And how it works against multiple targets at the same time. Iron Dome manages to work against 10 targets at the same time. Beyond that there are failures.
ОтветитьA small area can be defended with a 30MW laser system. The Mach 20 incoming missile is target-locked when it is 28 km away, giving a 4-second pulse time. The laser beam needs to be jittered or defocused as the missile comes closer; otherwise, it will just burn a small hole through the missile. At 28 km, the beam diameter is 655 mm, with an intensity of 10MW/m2. At 1 km, the beam diameter is 23 mm. The system will be water-cooled. The laser must be positioned 62 meters above the ground to have line-of-sight to a target 28 km away beyond the horizon. It won't be easy to deal with multiple incoming hypersonic missiles.
3000W uncooled fiber-coupled laser diode modules are readily available. A 30MW system will require ten thousand of them. Each laser diode module is powered with its lithium-ion battery pack. The system can double as a grid energy storage system or as part of a laser-based weather control system. Other applications include space junk vaporization and asteroid defense.
Why would it be shocking? German weapons have always excelled, even the US uses many of them. And one of Germany's closest allies just happens to be fielding laser weapons.
ОтветитьFor me under 300kw laser didn't interested you didn't have more Time than 1,5second must destroyed about a Swarm and only that Power make it quick 50 Watts all for extreme short range....
Ответитьwell defense against missiles and drones is all good and stuff, but when do i get an anti mosquito home laser defense system to keep them damn blood suckers out of my apartment?
ОтветитьI like the Israel system since they are so deeply involved in avoiding civilian casualties.
ОтветитьNiech Polska pozyska transfer technologii wraz z offsetem Niemiecki system SHOCKED, lub Izraelski Iron Beam, Thor lub Amerykański H4, Helios, oraz broń elektromagnetyczną.
ОтветитьStar Trek
ОтветитьThe defense against laser's is stop the heat, ceramics is well known to do so.

ОтветитьNew LASER Weapon, is a new toy that cannot completely stop intruders, let say 25% massive warheads get through then what's ?
ОтветитьDo you suppose that perhaps this is how they burnt Lahaina and Paradise California😮
ОтветитьLahaina?
ОтветитьBought from Israel? Maybe😂
ОтветитьAs we make more ICBMs drones and hypersonic missiles useless and obsolete, Russia and China strive to continue to make nuclear weapons a threat.
ОтветитьThis is year 2023
ОтветитьThis was used on Hawaiian.. Skynet.
ОтветитьShock this world? 😂😅😂😅😂😅
Ответитьa drone that can carry more than 10 or 12 small arms nuclear missiles the drone can stay up in the air for a long period of time that can scan on the Ground and target enemy vehicles on the Ground the drone can carry AI technology can also work with satellites and other smart technology
ОтветитьImagine using lasers on enemy ground soldiers
ОтветитьNo they didn't shock the world you wally!
ОтветитьLaser have multiple weaknesses. First, current technology not allows really high output - 150kWt is a practical ceiling, which is barely enough to hit a small UAV made of plastic. Second, laser generates a huge amount of heat and cannot operate without cooling for substantial time, unlike projectiles weapons. Third, lenses and windows must be clean on microscopic level to prevent burning of themselves, which is about impossible task in combat. Fourth, and this is the biggest problem, is air condition. Dust, mist, low clouds, sand or smoke will effectively disperse the beam, thus completely neutralislzing its effect on target.
Ответить"It only costs a dollar a shot" - Say that again. It sounds so sweet.
Ответить20 kw laser? That's maybe good enough to disable a tiny drone or possibly disable sensors. The common minimal laser for industrial or home workshop is 60 kw and that's generally for cutting and etching materials a few inches at most from the laser. If the laser has to pass through long distances of atmospheric conditions, it's likely going to be refracted and dispersed to some amount. US and Israeli laser weapons appear to be achieving some kind of minimal threshold for fielding a viable weapon on any platform including aircraft and ships with the US looking to develop an enormous, nuclear powered laser for its largest aircraft carrier, the Ford class which is already generating enormous power for its propulsion, EMALS and other operating systems.
ОтветитьMy initial impression to the proliferation of laser systems in Western forces is that there's going to be a lot of dead birds even as AI gets better at recognizing and differentiating birds from actual military targets, primarily drones. And accordingly, I'd expect that there will be efforts to make drones look more like natural objects like birds.
ОтветитьHi there is one country that I’m thinking of that could do with this weapon is Ukraine 🇺🇦 but I don’t think this would be allowed David 🚀👌🇬🇧❤️👍
Ответитьpresident "i think this is a waste of money. they aren't even more effective than traditional weap.."
general " sir..we can make them red and we could even add a pew pew sound if you want"
president "...hm...."
Finally, now everyone’s going to be forced to develop shield tech
ОтветитьBooooriiiiing
ОтветитьDer Laser geht an,und in ganz Deutschland geht das Licht aus 😂
ОтветитьFor counter hypersonic rockets, laser beam ? But is it work ?
ОтветитьEntire world is so shocked and burried after the quake.
Ответитьhow they will take energy if 30% of electricity in Germany is imported and they closed all nuclear plants? is like Leopard 2 A7, just a few is available and will not be more, German Management of Germany is very bad the same like entire EU on They lidership.
ОтветитьVery good Germany, Take good càre you all german Forces..
Ответитьi am thinking of the combination of electro magnetic laser beam or EMBLEM
ОтветитьThis news is around 5 years old - I wonder wath they are working on now ^^
ОтветитьNothing serious.HAHAHAHA・・・・Because it will be active even in Hurricane ・Typhoon? ? ? OK even in the pouring rain ??? And nuclear fusion is 100% safe. ? ? ? ? ?
ОтветитьThis is so damn sci fi!
ОтветитьTurkey alrady shot down a chinese drone in Libya in 2019 by a laser weapon. 4 years ago, Turks used alaser weapon in the combat for the first time in history.
ОтветитьI'm not shocked at all!
They are just basic weapons that want to look very advanced! Will they know what an advanced weapon is?
long time in coming, and a good thing for defense.
ОтветитьNow we can have more wars because their cheaper.
ОтветитьIsrael did it first and better
ОтветитьI really hope that a strong mirror won't be able to divert the laser from the track because then there will be chaos here
ОтветитьWestern military equipment have been shocking the world for quite some time... can they counter Shahed-136/Geran-2 yet though? or Doritos are still too much?
ОтветитьWow
ОтветитьU.S started this tech a while ago. At the end is it not Germany, it is not US, it is called NATO so far.
Ответитьsoon we gonna see mirror planes to counter lasers
ОтветитьProblem with lazers as weapons, is mirrors, lol. Chaff and Smoke also cheap ways to block or attenuate the beam. THe lazer wont work in rain or fog. Over all yes very good when it works, but not great in many situations. However, Mazers are another matter, they cut through fog, rain, mirrors too.
ОтветитьAnd when it's cloudy?
Ответить
