I have a semi truck with 40 volt fuel injectors can I use one of these type of stand-alone computers I converted it from a dual turbo to a single turbo turbo I eliminated the emissions and I'd like to control the fuel

The top version of megasquirt is way over priced compared to it's competition, in the UK anyway. I can get a direct plug in Link ecu for my Evo 6 for not much more than the Megasquirt, and the Link is far more sophisticated. I am really shocked at the price of the Megasquirt, their original concept was a very low cost, DIY route to fuel injection conversion,not anymore it seems!

I'm with you on the mega squirt it's an awesome system but also check out Speeduino. It's truly an open source licensed ECU. It uses an Arduino. Check it out!

I am probably going to be back here a lot once my MS3 arrives. I couldn't justify $3000 for a Haltech just to get sequential injection & Ignition. I could have bought an ENTIRE Ford Ranchero for that! (Still not sure I shouldn't have...).

I would have even liked to build the whole system thing myself, but... Only saving about $100 for an assembled version doesn't seem worthwile, I have enough projects as is.

Came to watch this as I have an ECU issue a Megasquirt could solve - vehicles timings either too advanced or too retarded.

10 minutes in I realised I was 100% correct - this is indeed too advanced & I'm waay retarded. A small bit of my brain ran down into my lungs.

Ive done a bunch of EFI conversions on old carbd porsches with mega squirt, I only build and drive older Audis myself. their Me7.5 ECU is insanely tunable and flexible, you can do virtually everything a standalone can except dual port injections for the biiiig builds. We even got one to control a monstrous VVG turbo, which isnt even an option on Audis for 20 years. Best part, they come with the car for FREE! Kind of a roundabout way of tuning, you have to do some format swapping and filling with data and maps to Checksum them to make sure you dont brick one. Ive done quite a few with much higher end AEM infiniti standalone systems. Those are pretty slick. But alotta bucks

For motorcycle engines ALWAYS use the stock/OEM Ecu and wiring, thats much easier and cheaper than aftermarket ECUs

In the microsquirt v3.0 manual they state that ground should be the engine, not the battery, and sensor ground on well sensor ground in the main connector

I can't find anyone who can help me tune my car with the mega squirt piggy back. It's been almost 500 since I drove my car. It's a c7z with everything you can think to make about 1000 whp. Can you help point me in the right direction?

Grounding both ends of the shield is a common mistake ! We learned very early (early 80s) not to do this !

Problem is, I can afford the "tuning software" (a screwdriver) for my carbs. Only CV carbs tho, those old 'murican double pumper things belong in the 60's and should stay there, along with all the other horrible things that was left in the 60's (leaded gas, segregation, JFK..)

If you want a IAC, you could opt for a PWM version. The Micro DOES provide for that control.

Pretty sure you don't need a cam position sensor because the microsquirt 3.0 probably the megasquirt to, can uses the map sensor to determine cam phase

Are you still happy with both the Microsquirt and Megasquirt ECU's on your Grom and MG(?) respectively? I have a 2005 VTX 1800 that tried to hump a telephone pole with the P.O. in the saddle. It only has about 4500 miles on it so some things aren't even broken in yet.. I actually don't know how fast it was going, but it was regected. I'm thinking I would be happier with a megasquirt because I have a complex list of metrics I'd like to observe.:

Coolant temp
Oil temp
Final Drive temp
Fuel temp in tank
Fuel temp at EFI distribution block
Clutch oil temp (I know it won't be completely accurate but I don't know how else to keep track of the clutch pack temp
Exhaust gas temp maybe at crossover
AFR for each individual Cylinder.
Intake Temp 3/4" before injector
Intake AF mix temp above valve (if possible)
I have a theory that If I can cool the fuel and intake air significantly, it will add power and efficiency by changing density
The boys at Engine Masters played with this theory a little but they didn't have time to really explore it.

I realize not all of those things need to be inputs into the ECU,. Nevertheless, I'm thinking I still need the Megasquirt so I can also control the blow-off valve on a turbo and I'd like to have breathing lights that were associated with both RPM and engine temp. I'm sure there's more. My plan is to completely isolate the entire fuel system from engine heat and keep it as cool as possible. This might require a recirculation pump and heat shrink tubing under the tank in addition to extensive heat shielding The recirculation pump could be turned on and off based on temp inputs. Ooooh what if I could warm up the fuel when the bike is cold .... or whenever the outside air drops below optimum temp ... is that even a thing?

Also, I'm going to build a trailer with a regenerative drive system to help with inclines on the road and stop and go traffic so my bike doesn't have to work so hard when I'm pulling it. It could help with maintaining speed downhill too! Get those batteries good and charged. It would be nice to adjust the regenerative percentage through it too though I don't know why there would be provisions even in the pro for that.

One more thing ... is there a way for the Megasquirt to handle cruise control that you are aware of?

If you have been into PC Building for a long time the labels for the pinouts make a ton more sense...as do the abbreviations that aren't directly engine related.
