Dirt Rally 2.0 : The Boring Driver Wins the Race

Well, the video is great and everybody is different, but I can't figure any good reason why you play rally game that much and don't use steering wheel with proper ffb. Because it sounds for me like depriving yourself from much better and much more fun experience

I just realized I play this game like an insane person. Slap on some eurobeat, tell the co-driver to shut up and only tell me left/right/or hairpins, and just wing it, with no worries whatsoever.

This is also very inspiring and oddly emotional.

this is the only pc game ive found that works with my logitech steering wheel from gran turismo a spec

Tip: if you get good at Richard Burns Rally you get good at this as well, even better.

To be fair your playstyle is probably better for games like burnout.. It's a sim-cade and you are playing it like a brainlet

I enjoy it so much in VR maybe 3rd person camera may be faster but immersiveness with a wheel is so good.

its not about learning corners and at which speed you go at them. you need to pay attention to youre co-drivers pace notes and try to understand the information youre given and use that to youre advantage

Its like buying your own rally car doing the training and improving each time you drive Role Playing being an actual rally driver. No professional rally driver wins everything but they show up.

I love the liveliness in Dirt rally, the crowd reacts when they see the car, the player caresses the steering wheel with his fingers, the attendants react to stop the car, and some of my favorite vehicles break down and stop on the side of the road, which is very car, and some of my favorite vehicles break down and stand on the side of the road, which is a very nice detail

Great story, it was a pleasure to watch it! There is one thing that resonates with me more than others: it is indeed a lonely game and it sometimes makes me sad

I absolutely pride myself in being able to complete a full 10 mile plus rally, no hud, no assists, on a shitty sim. Havent gotten far wnough into the difficulties in the career to gauge my actual skill, but I survive, and I feel damn fast.

ngl this game looks so bad compared to the first.
The first is so much more realistic looking.

To master dirt rally, all you have to do is listen.. your co driver is basically teaching you what to do..

Keyboard in third person??
Even I thought I was gimping myself using a controller. Finally bought my G29 racing wheel, excited to try it out with this game

old vid, but it was on sale for 8 dollars this year, have dirt rally 1. you could definately be better using a proper sim setup. transducers and a feedback wheel with well they have it now, think it wasnt available then, but maybe it just became available, vr. i built a killer setup out of wood and an oldsmobile carseat with a 75 dollar damaged (retention lever was damaged, replaced it with a large eyehook bolt with a nut and a washer) thrustmaster t150 and 2 dayton 25w shakers using a car amp hotwired to an xbox 360 power brick. in total 110 dollar sim setup, vr was and still is the only way i play games anymore. theres something about a proper sim setup that makes it much more versatile, and when you add vr it translates to "so im in a car" and it just all comes together. first person is usually awful in racing games, but in vr having depth and distance makes it work phenomonally well, driving irl seems to translate very well into the game in this case, and vice versa. forcefeedback and simulated shakers actually saved my car twice from black ice and hydroplane, while its not perfect its close enough your brain fills in the gaps and you instantly know what overcorrection feels like and how to avoid it and catch your car. while this may not save your car every time, its quite a good tool even if its not 100% realistic, as you dont often hydroplane or hit black ice on a daily basis to have that experience in any form until youre in a ditch somewhere, which i suppose isnt really a learning experience if you messed up and overcorrected in the first place. wooden sim setup? had everything but the wheel/pedals and shakers. this is why i love vr, while simulators arent always 100% realistic in the feel, they sometimes get it close enough that you have an idea. although i can say, the feeling of the wheel shimmying on black ice and trying to correct and slow down to get traction back with the wheel is pretty damn realistic.
