The biggest problem I have with this (and I am a black caribbean) is that black Americans think there were the ONLY enslaved Africans. for the record, of the Transatlantic slave trade only 4% went to North America (although they multiplied there because they were "farmed" like livestock). 32% were taken to the Caribbean and 64% were exported to South American territories. I am not diminishing the contribution made by (some ) Black Americans to the world's inventions but there are actually people of african descent OUTSIDE the USA who have contributed a great deal more. Black Americans tend to be content only to know about themselves and not other people of African origin, who are often much broader in their knowledge and experience of the wider world.
