사방 가득한 침묵에 잠이 오지 않는 밤.

질식할 때가 되어서야 창문을 열고 미뤄둔 겨울을 맞이했다.

고였던 숨을 토해내는 동시에 밀려오는 추위와 어둠.

그것들에 난 너무나 더워져서 뒤집어 썼던 이불과 옷을 벗어던져야만 했다.

알몸으로 순수히 맞이하는 차가운 금속을 닮은 감촉

온몸이 찢겨져 나간 이제서야,

징그럽고 형편 없는 날 마주한 그제서야.

그렇게 바라던 달빛이 나에게 내려앉기 시작했다.

난생 처음으로 비춰진 그 달에게,

차갑게 식어가는 내 두 손위로 포개진 온기의 주인에게, 난 물었다.

용서 받을 수 있을까요.

질문에 대한 대답은 역시 처음과 같은 침묵, 그러나 이제는 더는 그것이 시끄럽지도 절망스럽지도 않았다.

고개를 떨군 침묵.

어둠을 몰아내고 비상하는 주황빛 여명.

문득 그 여명을 보며 이제는 간직된 어린이가 아직 포기하기 어려운지 고개를 내밀었다.

아이는 저항하되 저항하지 않으며 울면서 말했다.

돌아오지 않는 대답을 향해...

그래서 오늘도 그리고 내일도 저 햇빛을 맞이하고 싶어요.

그리곤 이내 침묵을 향해 침울한 표정으로 아이는 말했다.

저는..전.. 그래선 안되는 걸까요? .... 후우....

자지 않고 놀겠다며 때를 쓰는 아이, 그런 잠 못드는 아이를 어머니의 손처럼 어루고 달래는 햇빛.

오랜 불면증에 시달린 그의 두 눈을, 여명이 대신 감겨주었다.

감겨가는 두 눈 사이로 비춰진 주황 불빛은, 여전히 뜨겁고 외롭고 후련했고 아련했고 아쉬웠다.




지금까지의 모습 중에 가장 볼만하다고.





그렇게 엉망이 된 상처 투성위 몸 위로 내려쬐는 달빛.





이제서야..

그래 이제서야.

새장속 앵무새에게 괜스레 짜증이나 소리치던 밤도.











짜증이나 울어대는 새장 속 새에게 괜스레 짜증이나 소리쳤다.



그렇게 울어봐야 새벽은 오지 않아
그래봐야 알아들을리 없는 녀석은 더 크게 울어댔다.
화낸 것이 우스워 픽하고 웃었다.
