@beholder9 And it never ceases to amaze me how yesterdays youth manage to make sweeping and ridiculous generalization ...

@cranie4 I noticed that too. Maybe it wasn't his intention, but it certainly came out that way. He seemed to be cutting a lot more slack to that wacko (IRL) from DS9.

Janeway > Kirk+ Picard + Sisko + Archer And Mulgrew is not only a great actress but also a wonderful woman. Because of Muldrew and Janeway I decided to call my daughter Kathryn :))))

I think she was the best Starship captain. I think its hard for a woman to be in command without being perceived as a bitch, and she did it. She was also pretty enough to not be considered a hag, but not so pretty that she would not be taken seriously.

Always loved Janeway. She gave Picard a real run for his money in my book. Think Picard always maintained his lead as my hero, though... But only by a hair. :)

The character was a mixed bag. Janeway's personality varied from script to script and sometimes she was unbarable. But that's not Kate Mulgrew's fault. As an actress she did all she could for the role. It was the writers letting the series down.

@22centman36 What's sfunny about this whole conversation is Kate STILL has the respect of her Voyager colleagues, while William barely speaks to the people from his show. Being high on the fact that you are the "Shat" is nothing compared with having a good relationship with those around you. As for Kirk being all that, this myth was debunked when Patrick Stewart came. He brought class with him and didn't have to make his fellow actors feel like crap just so he could feel good.

@MartyInLa She wasnt the best star trek chaptain! For crying out loud she commited 10 acts of genicide, (two was a war she started) broken countless laws more then the combine amount of Kirk and Picard not to mention she put her crew in more dangers then the accedent prone drivers!! If she wasn't such maniac, her crew would have never been lost to began with and because they were lost, her crew couldn't leave thus being in 7 years of hell!

I must say that honestly when I first saw her, I thought OMG she has really aged! But now that I think about it in general it HAS been 11 years now since Voyager ended and she is 56 yrs old now of course. I think she still looks great though. Love her hair in this! :D It's a lot lighter in this..almost blonde and it can make a few women look older if it's too light. It's not too light on her though. :) I miss Voyager..and TOS reruns.

I was thinking the other day, we never really see storys about the star trek cast going off the walls. And I wondered if Star Trek, their characters and fan exceptions made the actors feel like they had a certain level of respectability to uphold. Leonard Nimoy was an alcoholic for a long time if I remember, and I wondered if perhaps his role helped him find a way out of it. I'm not saying a massive contribution, but perhaps something.

Janeway is damn cool, but by the end of that show she's half nuts, you must realize this. She's more or less murdered countless people and she's one hell of an overcontroling bitch sometimes, exspecially with Seven. Fascinating character, but as a role model she's no Picard. Kirk of course, is a buffoon. Archer...eh, he's alright. average joe. Haven't seen DS9.

To me Sisko is by far the most complex captain: single father, Starfleet officer, emissary to the Bajoran prophets, and war hero from the Dominion War. All wrapped up in one package...and somehow reasonably well integrated.

I had a crush on Janeway. I also adored Jennifer Lien, Roxanne Dawson, Jeri Ryan, Marina Sirtis, and Gates McFadden. I think I spelled their names correctly... Feelings for Ryan and Sirtis were not limited to the occasional boner--I actually cared for their characters.
