Nothing can ever beat Cut the Crap off the top of my head...also that last album the Beach Boys did. Atrocious.
ОтветитьI happen to like Landing on Water. Good songs marred by arguably ghastly production.
ОтветитьAlthough David Bowie's Never Let Me down is a least favorite by many people, it's one that I actually like a lot. It came at a time in my life that resonated with me in a way that I needed it to. Go ahead and hate away, and I'll be here doing my own thing!
ОтветитьREM - "New Adventures in Hi-Fi" and "Up"
U2 - Zooropa
Smashing Pumpkins - "Adore" and "Cyr"
Highly Suspect - MCID
Pearl Jam - Avacado
Tom Petty - Southern Accents
Blues Traveler - North Hollywood Shootout
Styx - Edge of the Century
Zac Brown Band - The Owl
Plain White Ts - Parallel Universe
Hootie and the Blowfish - Imperfect Circle
Theory of a Deadman - Wake Up Call
Meat Loaf - Braver Than We Are
Another dreadful & unspeakably bad was Motley Crue's 2000 CD, New Tattoo. No Tommy Lee, No Bob Rock, NO THANK YOU!
ОтветитьI have Fogerty's album on original vinyl. After hearing him make such an amazing comeback with Centerfield, I eagerly purchased this one. In the almost-40 years since, I've listened to it exactly once. When he came back (again) with Blue Moon Swamp, I listened to that repeatedly and do so to this day.
I'd love to see half of the Beatles' White Album and the Let it Be album on these lists. Thank god those awful efforts were saved by the good parts of the White Album and all of Abbey Road.
I've always thought Rod Stewart sounds like a rooster with strep throat. One god awful voice. Ditto Prince. Ditto David Bowie.
ОтветитьMike Oldfield's attempts to imitate 80s synth pop (admittedly under pressure from Virgin to come up with hit singles) produced some quirky gems like In high places, but also the absolutely execrable Earth Rising album. Amazingly he repeated the attempt 25 years later (with predictable results) with the even worse Man on the rocks.
ОтветитьNeil Young’s Touch the Night is damn good - the rest of Landing on Water is unlistenable.
ОтветитьGeez, when people are ADMITTING that a Clash album is bad, then you KNOW it has to be truly horrible.
ОтветитьGreat vid and SPOT ON regarding Mike Love!!!
Ответить" Giant for a day". was an awful album by the usually excellent Gentle Giant . As a Van Der Graaf Generator fan the album "The quiet zone / the pleasure dome" album was a huge disappointment and Free,s" Free at last "was a band running on empty and lacking in inspiration . Still one bad L.P. out of so many good one's is'nt too bad . l won't mention "Tormato" by Yes as it's best forgotten .
ОтветитьActually I love this album "Cut The Crap" with The Clash.
ОтветитьThe reason people don't like cut the crap is cus they don't actually listen to it..after you get past the first 2 songs it turns into a masterpiece.. don't think of it as a classic clash album and you'll love it.
ОтветитьCheap Trick The Doctor
Ответить"Tonight" to me is almost as bad as "Never Let Me Down". Bowie, like the Stones, would make the mistake of recording when he was not inspired.
ОтветитьI think it's much easier {& Better} listing AWFUL album's. I tend to disagree with "BEST" but never with AWFUL.
ОтветитьAs a Clash fan I totally agree with your pick on 'Cut the crap'. I would only add that when I heard the album I thought of it's title being a self-sarcastic punchline by Joe Strummer himself. I guess he might had already figured out that the band had closed its life circle and it was time to end. So 'cut the crap and break this stuff up' could be the meaning of the title.
ОтветитьNever listened to "Landing on Water". I have now. Some decent tunes buried in there which I'd like to hear Crazy horse doing. That drum sound on the album is truly horrendous though.
ОтветитьI'd like to see Neil Young revisit some of the Landing On Water songs without the 80s bombastic production. I thought there were some good tunes on that LP.
ОтветитьPink Floyd The Final Cut deserves mention. A tuneless spew of Roger Waters at his worst.
Ответить"Phil Collin's years......" how perfect of a phrase is that and describes so many artists.
ОтветитьI wouldn't mind but there's even a song on there called 'We are The Clash'. Ummm......No you're not, not with that line-up and that awful music.
ОтветитьI agree Eye Of The Zombie is a bad mis step but it does have the soulful "Knocking On Your Door" and the very Creedence like "Change In the Weather"
ОтветитьI liked some of the material on Eye of the Zombie....Knockin' on your door and Sail Away are great tunes....though I do agree I could have done without the synthesizer influence.....
ОтветитьOne of the tracks on Young's Landing On Water, Touch The Night, I already knew from a live bootleg where it sounded like a more angry Like A Hurricane. The excitement of having a studio version was palpable. The response on first listen was "Oh, was that it?".
ОтветитьSo many albums on this list were made to fulfill a contract. Forgetting that albums belong to the fans, not to anyones individual ego
ОтветитьAlways liked Never let me down , Tonight was far weaker
ОтветитьIs amazing how people keep ignoring "Black tie white noise". There's only two options: 1) people give it good reputation (which it DOESN'T DESERVE AT ALL), or 2) people are actually ignoring it 'cause is really bad and they know it.
ОтветитьExcellent video
ОтветитьYou should do a top ten of great songs that are on crummy horrible albums in this case,NEIL YOUNG's landing on water there's at least two good tunes, drifter and I got a problem.
ОтветитьDavid Bowie..a truly great artist.
Personally I find the albums produced by Nile Rodgers his worst though they were his commercial highlights. Too "disco" for me
You should do a top 10 The Enid albums, that would be both interesting and confusing.
Ответитьi suppose when you think about it every top band boasts a stinker in their catalogue
BUT the reason we know their name is cos they hit the highs too !
Fun vid, insightful selections! I'd put Reactor below Landing on Water and Pure Instict below Humanity Hour 1 but NOOOO argument on Cut the Crap!
ОтветитьSteve Harley's LA inspired 1978 album Hobo With A Grin is truly shockingly awful.
ОтветитьTurbo 🤮
ОтветитьYes, the Fogerty thing is truly awful! :D I realize I'm one of the few people in the world that likes "Cut the Crap". If one listens with an ear to what it's supposed to sound like, of course it's godawful. but taken on its own, I find it a bit interesting if strange :D
ОтветитьNot only is Eye of the Zombie Fogerty's worst album, but it's also his worst album COVER as well!
ОтветитьRod Stewart should have recorded a Dylan tribute album, he's a huge Dylan fan and I always thought his voice was really well suited for covering Dylan.
ОтветитьGreat list :-)....have you ever thought of doing your fav Prince albums list?
ОтветитьEs triste ver que un cantante como Rod Stewart, haga discos de corte swing por que no es el tipo de música que le queda interpretar, mas bien parece sintoma de vejez.
ОтветитьI would lump most of Santana's '80s/90s material in the awful category. This is when Carlos decided he'd rather be a pop star than remain true to the formula which was so successful on those first few albums.
ОтветитьI must admit dylans cover of Shendahoh is not bad, which not surprisingly is covered by Richard thompson on 1000.00 years of popular music.beatiful cover!
ОтветитьMickey Rourke rapping? How could that be bad?
ОтветитьNot exactly difficult finding a crummy Young or Dylan album 🤣
I like the sleeve on Landing on Water though
Thanks for this, good stuff! Keep them coming
ОтветитьMy personal picks- Jazz from Hell by Frank Zappa and Shout by Devo
ОтветитьI also love The Mamas and the Papas, and while I agree "People Like Us" is their worst, I like it better than you or Michelle Phillips does. Are you aware your least favorite albums of these talented acts tend to be the same ones the print media critics have called their worst? I wonder what you think is the most underrated by each of these acts.
