You two have accomplished so so much since you bought that land, and there have been some downs, BUT, a lot of ups, too. Just look at how far you've come. I personally think you are doing a great job. 👍
That deck is gonna look so good, and even now, from above, it just makes that area, POP.
I'm very glad also that you've got a helper, that you can COUNT ON, that makes all the difference in the world.

Do you guys have to fence your pool? We have regulations where I live that say we do unless its got raised sides that make it over a certain height.

What about snow and snow melt? If you have a deck flush with the bottom of the door, seems to me that you have no place -- other than spilling inside -- for the melting snow.

OMG!!! With all your problems with items being just a bit off, could it mean your whole build is not level???? I hope not, but I noticed throughout the series, windows not being level in the bathroom, and the stairs not being level after taking them apart (true the steps were not the same height, but the construction company might have been trying to hide the fact that the building is not level). remember the tower was not level either. Now the pool, I know the ground is not level beneath it, maybe it is settling and throwing things off, but you need to double-check everything and I am getting suspicious. Sorry for the mistakes, Grammarly keeps kicking me off for some reason that I don't know. Well, I got it out there. I think it is a good idea that you are suing this company. With so many things wrong with it, I think it is a setup for someone to get hurt, especially with the stairs.

Thanks for the video, a lot of info on doing deck work. Congrats on the 10 Year Anniversary! From my experience the next 30 goes even faster than the first 10 - I will admit, as I tell everyone - some years a longer than others. Good luck! Thanks again for the video!

Two questions:

1. What's the deck/site lighting plan? Can you give us the 'Coles Notes'?

2. The [metal or aluminum] chimney: seems a bit too low now (?). It'll emit "dirty" wood-burning smoke and quickly blacken the immediate exterior walls. It's also a potential fire hazard. The higher the stack, the less likely fire embers will live long enough to drop onto the house or deck (although this aspect can be addressed by screens inside the stack). But consider windy days and where embers can land anywhere.

It's a little late to offer this observation. The practice of having doorsills at a higher elevation than adjacent outside space is to reduce the likelihood of the intrusion of water that might collect as a result of rain, snow, or snow melt. I understand why "the flow" might be more integrated without a step, but indulging in form over function often comes at a cost.

Do you know why time goes faster as you get older? Perspective… when you were 8 waiting a year for your bday seemed like forever because it is 1/8 of your life, when you are 30, it’s 1/30th, when you are 99, it’s 1/99. You have more time behind you so time seems to go faster and faster.

Love you guys as always, but I wanted to mention that platforms, such as CTV and Amazon Prime Video, won't let you play videos when a VPN is on 😔😔. Hopefully Netflix's ect aren't next, but they could be.

We ended up spending our anniversary down by the water with the boys. Later in the afternoon, Todd decided to pick up Chinese food and someone else who lives on the lake set off fireworks (not for us, just a coincidence LOL). I still can’t believe how fast the years slipped by…TEN years married, I’ll guess we really are getting older 😆...it's been nice to take a few days to relax away from the hustle of construction but we're SO excited to get back to work and finish this deck. How dreamy is it going to be?!
