I'm trying to figure out the black matt part. The frame is 2" looks like the black matt border looks about 1 1/4"?

Pro tip: the formula can be shortened to 8x + 2L + 2W +2, where x is the frame width, L is the art length and W is the art width. Just easier to process that way i think.

You could use a frame clamp and save using all that tape...good video and explanation. Well done.

Hey, thanks for the video! Just wanted to share I learned the hard way that your length needed formula doesn't account for the alternating waste cuts. I think they can be avoided by flipping the work piece, but I tried to follow the method you used in the video as close as possible.

Don't you need to subtract the depth of the rabbet in the formula for length of stock?

Do you still subtract the width of the rabbet x 2 as this was not mentioned on the monologue but was in the pop up formula?

i was thinking of making a super super huge frame for a 300 inch projector screen but i was not going to make the cut at each end to be like diagonal. then was going to put the screen inside the frame and use more wood to sandwich the screen between wood. hard to explain with out visuals no glass of any thing just the screen the screen had metal hole already was going to use some nuts the look like bolts that have groove in the out side and inside for got what thy are called kinda like what camera have to attach to a tripod at the bottom of a camera. i have more to it but would take a lot to explain but it just one idea i had to make a frame for a projector screen screen is 300" 262.6" x 148.4" so it say in amazon

What I needed to know. However in your non-jig segment you measure 1.25 on the backside of the molding. If you have 2" molding with a .25" rabbit wouldn't it be 1.75" vs. 1.25" or did I miss something? Also I'd like to see a video showing making frames using Pocket Holes and how that measures out with same .25" rabbit.

Couldn't you just cut your 45, then measure your artwork and add ⅛ and mark on the inside of the frame? I get that you double the width for the outside measurement, but wouldn't it work and be simpler to measure the cut on the inside?
